Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department is investigating a residential burglary that occurred on Tuesday, June 19th.  The incident occurred when  an unknown suspect(s) forced entry into the vacant home through a side door.  Once inside, the suspect took several high-end pieces of jewelry before fleeing.  The residents returned home at 5:15 PM to find that their home had been burglarized.

Dover P.A.L. Partners with Dover Fire Department for “A Day in Their Boots” 6-20-2018

Learn what it takes to be a firefighter in Delaware and the challenges they face by joining the Dover Police Athletic League on Wednesday, July 11th from 9am-2pm at the Delaware State Fire School.  This program is being hosted by the Delaware State Fire School, Dover Police P.A.L., and the Dover Fire Department.  There is no cost to attend, but children ages 5-10 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.  Lunch will be provided to all participants by event sponsor North Dover Chick-Fil-A.  A minimum of 30 participants is required for this program to take place.  Registration form can be found at the link below.  Parents/Guardians will have to sign a liability waiver after registration.

Dover Police Firefly Music Festival Arrests 6-18-2018

Narrative: 

Throughout Friday night (June 15th) and into the early morning hours of Saturday, June 16th, the Dover Police Department was notified of several cell phone thefts as the result of pick pocket suspects being in the large crowds.  One victim who had her phone taken was able to track the phone using the “Find my iPhone” app.  Officers from the Dover and Delaware State Police Departments were able to track the phone to William Rodriguez (34) and took him into custody.  Rodriguez was found to be in possession of 27 cell phones at the time, including the victim’s phone that was left on and was able to be tracked.  Rodriguez has been charged with three counts of theft under $1,500 with additional charges pending.  Investigating officers are working to identify owners of the remaining phones and contact their owners.  

Rodriguez, who is from Miami, FL, was committed to JTVCC in default of $3,000 cash bond.

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department is arrested a 24-year-old South Carolina man on Friday evening after fleeing from officers during a counterfeit merchandise investigation.  Undercover officers observed Hassan Mceachin selling counterfeit Firefly t-shirts in camping Lot 2.  When they attempted to make contact with Mceachin, he fled on foot.  Officers were able to take Mceachin into custody, but he continued to struggle, causing minor injuries to a Dover officers’ left arm.  Mceachin was found in possession of 37 counterfeit t-shirts, $850 in cash/proceeds, and one gram of marijuana.

Mceachin was committed to JTVCC in default of $18,400 bond on the following charges:

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department arrested two men from Ohio after they sold ecstasy to undercover officers in Firefly Music Festival’s Camping Lot 2.  Zachary Williams (23) and Edward Hartmann (21) were arrested after Williams sold 1.4 grams of ecstasy to an undercover officer.  Officers then conducted a search of the suspects vehicles and located 33 grams of ecstasy, 4.6 grams of cocaine, 1.1 grams of marijuana, and a digital scale.  

Both Edward Hartmann and Zachary Williams was released on $142,300 unsecured bond on the following offenses:
-Delivery of MDMA/Ecstasy
-Possession of MDMA (Tier 5)
-Possession with Intent to Deliver Cocaine
-Conspiracy 2nd degree
-Possession with Intent to Deliver MDMA
-Possession of Marijuana
-Drug Paraphernalia

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department arrested a 23-year-old Virginia man on drug charges after selling amphetamine pills to an undercover Dover police officer.  Shakir Styles sold 3 amphetamine pills to an undercover officer in Firefly camping lot 2.  When officers attempted to take Styles into custody, he attempted to flee and threw a bag containing more pills.  The bag was picked up by another subject and was unable to be located.  Styles was taken into custody and found with seven marijuana cigarettes (6.5 grams).  

Styles was committed to JTVCC in default of $7,500 secured bond on the following charges:
-Delivery of Amphetamine Pills
-Possession with Intent to Deliver Marijuana
-Tampering with Physical Evidence

The Dover Police Department arrested Parris Hearn (27) of Norfolk, VA on Saturday afternoon on drug charges during an undercover operation at the Firefly music festival grounds.  Hearn was contacted by police a result of a drug investigation and was found to be in possession of 200 doses of LSD.  Hearn was committed to JTVCC in default of $5,000 cash bond on the following charges:

The Dover Police Department arrested Andrew Arbieto (23), from Alexandria, VA, on drug charges following an undercover drug investigation.  Arbieto sold an undercover officer LSD and Psilocybin mushrooms.  After Arbieo was taken into custody, he was found in possession of 30 doses of LSD and 32 grams of Psilocybin mushrooms, brass knuckles, and 9mm ammunition.  Arbieto was committed to JTVCC in default of $12,500 cash bond on the following offenses:

Dover Police Investigating Death at Firefly Campgrounds 6-17-18

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department is investigating the death of a 20-year-old woman that occurred on Sunday morning.  At approximately 6:30AM, officers were alerted to an unresponsive female in Firefly Camping Lot 18 at Dover International Speedway.  Upon arrival, officers observed that Caroline Friedman from Philadelphia, PA was unconscious at her campsite.  Friedman was treated on scene by medical staff and transported to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital where she was pronounced deceased at 6:55AM.  Friedman was an attendee of the 2018 Firefly Music Festival being hosted at Dover International Speedway.

The cause of Friedman’s death is unknown, but is not believed to be the result of foul play.  An official cause of death is dependent upon autopsy and toxicology results.

 

Burglary at Redner’s Grocery Store 6-15-18

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department is investigating a burglary that occurred at the Redner’s grocery store in the Greentree Shopping Center.  The incident occurred at approximately 4:57AM on Friday, June 15th, when suspects forced entry into the business by prying open the front doors.  Once they were inside, they attached a chain to an ATM and dragged it out with a truck.  The suspects then fled with the ATM.  The suspects were wearing all black.

Dover Man Facing Numerous Drug Charges Following Arrest 6-13-18

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department arrested a Dover man on numerous drug charges on Tuesday afternoon.  The incident began when Marcus Bolden (31) was stopped for a traffic violation and for being wanted on a capias out of Kent County Court of Common Pleas.  He was taken into custody without incident, but was found to be in possession of 3.7 grams of crack cocaine, 6 grams of cocaine, 70 oxycodone tablets, 47 grams of marijuana, and $477.00 in drug proceeds.  

It was learned that Bolden was staying at the Relax Inn, located at 640 S. DuPont Highway. A search warrant was conducted by the Dover Police Department, Delaware Probation and Parole, and the First State Fugitive Task Force.  As a result of that search, the following was located:
-62.2 grams crack cocaine
-23.3 grams cocaine
-273 bags of heroin
-21.5 doses of ecstasy
-628.8 grams of marijuana
-paraphernalia
-$3,777.00 cash
-9mm ammunition

Shooting at Periwinkle Drive and Caroline Place 6-13-2018

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred on Tuesday night in the area of Periwinkle Drive and Caroline Place.  Officers responded to that location after a call for shots fired at approximately 11:17PM.  Upon arrival, it was learned that two unknown male suspects approached the intersection on foot and began shooting towards two female victims who were standing near the roadway.  None of the females were injured, but an unoccupied vehicle was struck by gunfire and several shell casings were found on scene.  The suspects then fled south on Caroline Place to an unknown location.
