Narrative: 
The Dover Police Department arrested Zion Saunders (20) on firearms charges during a traffic stop on Tuesday night.  At approximately 11:46 p.m., officers stopped Saunders while operating an unregistered vehicle in the area of North State Street and N. DuPont Highway in Dover.  Officers detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and during a search located a loaded 9mm handgun under the driver’s side floor mat, where Saunders was seated.

Saunders was committed to SCI on a $55,002 bond on the following offenses:
-Possession of Firearm During Commission of Felony
-Possession of Firearm/Ammunition by Person Prohibited (2x)
-Carry Concealed Deadly Weapon
-Traffic Violations (2)

Burglary at Dover Inn Storage Unit 10-16-20

Narrative: 
The Dover Police Department is investigating a burglary that occurred on Thursday evening at the Dover Inn.  Between 8:54 p.m. and 9:10 p.m., a white male suspect entered a storage unit on the property by unknown means.  The suspect stole a dark blue “beach cruiser” bicycle, two batteries for power tools/equipment, and a wi-fi router before fleeing.

Gold Alert Canceled for Missing 21-Year-Old 10-14-2020

UPDATE: The Dover Police Department has cancelled the Gold Alert for Brandon Fox.  He was located by police and is being evaluated at a nearby hospital.

The Dover Police Department is issuing a gold alert for a missing 21-year-old man.  Brandon Fox was last seen in the area of Bicentennial Village where he resides.  Fox made statements that are cause for concern for his well-being.  Fox is a white male, approximately 5’10” with blonde hair, and blue eyes.  Fox was last seen wearing a red zip-up Hollister hooded sweatshirt as seen in the below image.

Traffic Stop for No Headlights Results in Arrest for Firearm and Marijuana Possession 10-13-20

Narrative:
The Dover Police Department arrested Tiffany Lassiter (33) on marijuana and firearms offenses during a traffic stop early Sunday morning.  At approximately 12:14 a.m., officers stopped Lassiter in the area of North DuPont Highway and Denney’s Road for driving without her headlights on.  During the stop officers could smell marijuana coming from the car and observed a small baggie of marijuana in plain view on the rear seat.  As officers had Lassiter exit the vehicle, they saw a black handgun wedged between the driver’s seat and center console.  A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of an additional 30 grams of marijuana inside of the center console.

Lassiter was released on an O.R. bond on the following offenses:
-Possession of Firearm by Person Prohibited
-Possession of Marijuana

Dover Police Training Exercise to Take Place at City Hall on October 14th

The Dover Police Department will be participating in an emergency response exercise at Dover City Hall on Wednesday, October 14th, 2020.  The exercise is scheduled to begin at approximately 6:00 a.m. and is expected to end by 10:00 a.m..  Emergency equipment and personnel will be in the area of 15 Loockerman Plaza but should not affect traffic flow.

These exercises are designed to test the capabilities of the Dover Police Department and other participating agencies in the event of a true emergency.  The exercise also allows participants to become more educated about the resources that each individual agency and participant can provide in a true emergency and discuss ways to improve responses to such incidents.  

This incident is not expected to disrupt area traffic.  There will be a large gathering of emergency vehicles, equipment, and personnel on site but the public should not be alarmed as this is only a training exercise.

Burglary at Route 8 Arby’s 10-9-2020

Narrative: 
The Dover Police Department is investigating an early morning burglary that occurred at an Arby’s restaurant on Forrest Avenue.  At approximately 4:56 a.m., officers responded to the restaurant for a burglary alarm and found an open rear door and that the drive-thru window was shattered.  Surveillance video showed a male suspect break in to the business through the shattered window and attempt to open the safe.  The suspect was unsuccessful and ran out of the rear door.
