Vehicle Crash Closes Section of North DuPont Highway 12-22-2020

The Dover Police Department is currently on scene of a motor vehicle collision in the area of North DuPont Highway and Lepore Drive.  As a result, the southbound lanes of N. DuPont Highway are closed at Leipsic Road/N. State Street.  Please use an alternate route of travel during the closure.  The closure is expected to last until at least 8:00 a.m.

This is not a mass casualty incident.  The incident involved a vehicle rear-ending a passenger bus.  The driver of the vehicle was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment for injuries sustained in the crash.  No other injuries have been reported.  

 

Suspect Wanted for Shooting at Service Station Employee 12-20-2020

Narrative: 
The Dover Police Department is seeking a suspect involved in a shooting incident that occurred on Saturday afternoon.  At approximately 2:48 p.m., officers responded to the U.S. Gas service station at 461 N. DuPont Highway for a report of shots fired during a verbal altercation.

The investigation revealed that Joshua Brown (40) was involved in a verbal altercation with an employee about a purchase.  During the altercation, Brown stated “I’ll shoot” and removed a black handgun from his waistband and fired one shot in the direction of the employee.  The employee was not injured.  Brown then fled the area.  

Joshua Brown is currently wanted by the Dover Police Department on the following charges:
-Possession of Firearm/Ammo by Person Prohibited (2x)
-Reckless Endangering 1st Degree
-Possession of Firearm During Commission of Felony
-Carrying Concealed Deadly Weapon

Shooting at Queen Street and Reed Street on Saturday Morning 12-19-2020

Narrative: 
The Dover Police Department is investigating a shooting that injured a 36-year-old Dover man.  At approximately 1:14 a.m., officers were called to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital when the victim arrived to the emergency room by private vehicle.  The victim was struck once in the wrist and once in the thigh by gunfire.  The victim is being treated for non life threatening injuries and has not been cooperative with detectives at this time.

$12K in Apple Products Stolen From Display at Best Buy

Narrative: 
The Dover Police Department is investigating a shoplifting incident that occurred on Tuesday afternoon at Best Buy.  At approximately 4:21 p.m., five male subjects entered the store and approached the Apple product display.  The five suspects began removing the items by detaching the security locks/cables and fleeing.  It is estimated that $12,000 worth of Apple display products were stolen.  The suspects all fled in a silver Infinity G35x with Texas registration plate: DBG-2963.  The registration plate does not match the vehicle it was displayed on.

Arrest Made Following Burglary at Forrest Avenue Valero Station 12-14-2020

Narrative: 
The Dover Police Department arrested a 19-year-old man after committing a burglary at the Valero station on Forrest Avenue on Sunday morning.  At approximately 2:55 a.m., officers responded to the store for a burglary alarm.  When a manager responded, it was determined that the suspect (Christopher Mosley) was a former employee off the business.  Mosley entered the business, possibly with a key, and attempted to open the ATM with another key.  Mosley failed to gain access to the ATM and then stole 14 packs of cigarettes before fleeing on foot.  A short time later, officers located Mosley at a nearby business and took him into custody without incident. 

Mosley was released on an O.R. bond on the following charges:

Traffic Stop Leads to Gun and Drug Arrest 12-14-2020

Narrative: 
The Dover Police Department arrested a Smyrna man on drug and firearms charges during a traffic stop on Friday night.  At approximately 10:54 p.m., officers stopped Alfred Hawkins III (35) for an equipment violation.  While contacting Hawkins, the officers could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.  A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of 6 grams of marijuana and a loaded 9mm handgun.

Two Arrested on Firearms and Drug Charges 12-9-2020

Narrative: 
The Dover Police Department arrested two men on drug and firearms offenses following a firearms investigation on Tuesday evening.  At approximately 5:37 p.m., officers stopped a vehicle in the area of New Castle Avenue and Collins Avenue occupied by Gabriel Kaniecki (21) and Jequille Winborne (23) in reference to a firearms investigation.  During the stop, officers detected a strong odor of marijuana in the vehicle and later conducted a vehicle search.  During the search officers located a 9mm handgun with an obliterated serial number, a loaded 9mm high capacity magazine (30 rounds), 103.6 grams of marijuana packaged for sale, and $1,250 in drug proceeds.  

Kaniecki was committed to SCI on a $5,750 cash bond on the following charges:
-Possession of Firearm by Person Prohibited (2x)
-Possession with Intent to Deliver Marijuana
-Drug Paraphernalia
-Illegal Gang Participation
-Possession of Firearm with Obliterated Serial Number

Winborne was released on an unsecured bond on the following charges:
-Possession of Firearm by Person Prohibited
-Possession of Marijuana
