CRISIS NEGOTIATION TEAM (C.N.T.)
The Crisis Negotiation Team is a specialized unit comprised of ten veteran officers of the Dover Police Department, whose mission is to respond to all barricade and hostage situations. The CNT commander reports directly to the Deputy Chief of Police, who is also responsible for authorizing their activation. Once activated, the Crisis Negotiation Team focuses their resources on establishing personal contact with the individual involved. Once contact is established, CNT uses the opportunity to appraise, evaluate and gather intelligence in order to resolve the crisis as quickly as possible. The Crisis Negotiation Team maintains their proficiency through bi-monthly training exercises, two of which include joint training with SORT.
