Narrative:
Three people are facing weapons charges after an early morning traffic stop led to the discovery of two firearms, one of which was stolen. While on patrol, a Dover Police officer observed a vehicle traveling north on DuPont Highway in the area of Rustic Lane operating with tags that expired in April of 2014. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but it continued to travel northbound, bypassing several areas to stop safely, finally pulling over in the parking lot of a business near Kentwood Drive. Upon stopping, a subject exited the right rear passenger seat and fled the area, but three other subject remained in the vehicle. The officer contacted those subjects and discovered that the driver, Lateef Dickerson, was intoxicated. During the investigation, officers discovered two firearms inside the vehicle. One weapon was a .38 caliber Taurus revolver that was reported stolen to Troop 9 of the Delaware State Police. The other was a 9mm Ruger. Both weapons were loaded at the time of the discovery. The three remaining occupants of the vehicle were all taken into custody without further incident. The investigation into the subject who fled is still ongoing at this time.
