Weekly Shoplifting Arrests 8/28-9/4

The Dover Police Department responded to a total of 16 shoplifting complaints between Noon on Thursday, August 28th and Noon on Thursday, September September 4th.  This week saw a decrease of 10 complaints compared to the same time period in last weeks post.  Of the 16 shoplifting complaints, 8 resulted in arrests of the suspects involved, 3 businesses declined prosecution, 2 of them are still under investigation without identified suspects, and no crime was confirmed in the other 3 cases.  There were no juvenile arrests for shoplifting in this time period.

Currently Wanted Suspects:
As shown in the image, two of the suspects pictured are currently wanted.  The first, Alexis Overstreet(23), is wanted for Theft by False Pretense.  Overstreet shoplifted $79.98 worth of merchandise from Boscov’s and returned to the store and fraudulently returned the items, getting the cash value for them.  As of this release, Overstreet has not been arrested.

The second wanted suspect is Michael Foskey (21).  Foskey attempted to steal an XBOX One Controller valued at $59.99 from SEARS in the Dover Mall.  When loss prevention employees attempted to apprehend Foskey, he fled from them.  Loss prevention employees grabbed at Foskey’s backpack and Foskey let it go, continuing to flee the area.  Arriving Dover Police Officers checked the backpack and found the game controller as well as personal mail from a state agency.  When officers ran Foskey’s name, they were able to positively identify him as the suspect based on witness accounts and video surveillance compared to his photos on file from previous arrests.  Foskey also has six capias’ for his arrest along with an additional shoplifting warrant from Milford, DE Police Department.

Dover Police Officers of the Dover Fraternal Order of Police Announce Annual Golf Tournament Benefitting Delaware Children’s Hospitals

The Dover Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #15 has announced the date for its 7th Annual Golf Tournament.  On Thursday, September 11th officers from the Dover Police Department will hold its annual tournament at Jonathan’s Landing in Magnolia, DE to equally benefit area children’s hospitals and the Fraternal Order of Police Officer in Distress fund.  The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 15 is comprised of current and retired Dover Police Officers.  The Dover police officers in this lodge chose to split the proceeds of this years tournament with half going towards the purchase of toys, games, and necessities of hospitalized children at area hospitals.  The other half will benefit the Officer in Distress fund.  This fund assists officers and families of officers who are injured or killed in the line of duty, suffering from illnesses, and/or other sudden/traumatic situations.  The Fraternal Order of Police also supports several area charities, programs, youth programs, and offers scholarship opportunities.  “We all took this job as police officers to help the public.  Our F.O.P. should also share that thought and supporting charities and programs in our area is a perfect way to show that our officers care even when the badge comes off” said Jordan Miller (F.O.P. Lodge 15 Secretary/Tournament Organizer).  Miller also added “Our lodge represents the men and women who protect, serve, and represent our city every day.  It’s only right that we too, invest in our community.”  The tournament will be held on Thursday, September 11th with registration beginning at 9:30AM and a shotgun start at 11:00AM.  Prizes will be awarded to 1st-3rd place finishers and “closest to the pin” and “longest drive” winners.  Lunch and beverages will be provided at the course with a dinner at Frazier’s Restaurant in Dover following the tournament where winners will be announced.  There will also be raffle prizes and a silent auction at Frazier’s.  The lodge is currently accepting team registrations and is seeking additional sponsors.  Please see the below images for tournament and contact information.

Burglary at First State Coin Business

Incident #: 50-14-23410  Date/Time: September 3, 2014 at 0256 AM

Location: 53 Greentree Drive, Dover, DE (Greentree Shopping Center)

Narrative:

On September 3, 2014 at 0256 hours an unknown suspect broke out the front window of the business using a piece of concrete block. The suspect entered the business through the broken window and then broke three glass display cases with a hammer. Suspect removed an undisclosed amount of currency (red/blue seal bills, graded coins, and silver) from inside the business. Suspect fled the business through the damaged window and into an unknown direction.
