Narrative:

The Dover Police Department is investigating a residential burglary that occurred on Saturday morning in the 900 Block of Sunset Terrace.  The incident occurred between 2:00AM-4:00AM when an unknown suspect(s) entered the home by unknown means.  Once inside, various jewelry, electronics, cosmetics, and two bags were stolen from the home.

Weekly Shoplifting Notification 8/6/15-8/14/15

The Dover Police Department responded to 21 shoplifting calls between Noon on August 6th and Noon on August 13th.  Of those 21 shoplifting complaints, 2 are still under investigation, 6 were unfounded, and 14 arrests/warrants obtained were made in  13 cases.  Two juveniles and 12 adults were arrested during this time period.

Armed Robbery at Dollar Tree 8-14-15

Location:  Dollar Tree, 261 North DuPont Highway, Dover, Delaware

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department is investigating a robbery that occurred at the Dollar Tree at 261 North DuPont Highway.  The incident occurred at 10:30PM, when an unknown white male suspect entered the business and produced a note to the employees stating he had a gun and demanded money.  During the course of the robbery, the suspect pulled a black firearm from his shorts and pointed it at employees.  The employees complied and gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash.  The suspect then fled southbound from the store.  The suspect, pictured below, is described as a heavy-set white male with a gray t-shirt, gray colored shorts, dark sneakers and glasses.

Over Sixty Items Added to DPD Unclaimed Property Page

On Wednesday, August 12th, the Dover Police Department added over 60 items to the Pinterest Unclaimed Property Page.  Police encourage the public to view the page regularly for updates.  You can access the page here: DPD UNCLAIMED PROPERTY PAGE

 

The Dover Police Department Public Affairs Office has launched a Pinterest Page on July 31, 2015 in hopes of reuniting owners with unclaimed property.  Previously, the department had no method to showcase unclaimed property to the public. Most items are turned in to the Dover Police Department or found by officers as lost property.  Some items were recovered during criminal investigations.  On the first day of the program, the department listed 32 items with plans to continually add more in the future.

If you believe you have unclaimed property listed on the site, please contact Dean Anderson (Evidence Technician) at 302-736-7126 between 8:00AM-4:00PM, Monday-Friday to schedule a pickup appointment. 

The Evidence technician has final determination if the person claiming the property is the rightful owner or legal representative thereof.  In order to provide proof of ownership, the evidence technician may request proof of ID or ownership to include (but not limited to) the following:

  • Government issued identification (driver’s license/SSN Card/Birth Certificate/etc)
  • Utility Bill or other proof of residency
  • Receipt or box of item being claimed with matching serial number
  • Ability to log into electronic devices with correct username/password witnessed by evidence technician
  • Any other form of ID or proof of ownership the evidence technician deems necessary.

Shooting at Manchester Square and Dover Park 8-11-15

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department is investigating a pair of shooting incidents that occurred just after 3:00PM on Monday, August 10th.  Officers responded to multiple calls of shots fired in both areas within minutes of each other.  It was learned that  a maroon/dark red Chevrolet Equinox was traveling through Manchester Square/Stevenson Drive and multiple shots were fired from that vehicle.  Officers on scene discovered several .22 caliber rounds in the area where the shots were fired from the vehicle.

Officers also responded to Dover Park, just east of Manchester Square for reports of shots fired that occurred approximately 1-2 minutes after the first incident..  It was reported that a single male suspect shot approximately 6 rounds.  At this scene, several .45 caliber shell casings were discovered.  Approximately three hours after the second incident, an 18-year-old victim responded to Bayhealth Kent General for treatment of a non-puncture gunshot wound to his foot.

Man Arrested with Gun and Crack Cocaine 8-10-15

Location:  Red Roof Inn, 652 N. DuPont Hwy., Dover, Delaware

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department arrested a man with a gun and crack cocaine after receiving a complaint of subjects loitering in the parking lot of the Red Roof Inn on Sunday at 12:53AM.  Officers responded to a report of multiple subjects in the parking lot, using drugs.  Upon arrival, an officer contacted Royshawn Clark in the parking lot.  Further investigation led to the discovery of crack cocaine in Clark’s front pocket and a .38 caliber revolver in his pant leg.  Both items were seized and Clark taken into custody without incident.  It was later discovered that the firearm was stolen in a previous case.
Clark was charged with the following offenses:
-CCDW
-Receiving a stolen firearm
-Possession of crack cocaine
-Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Clark was committed to James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in default of $4301.00 secured bond.

50-Year-Old Man Assaulted/Robbed 8-10-15

Narrative:


The Dover Police Department is investigating a robbery that occurred at 12:03AM on Saturday, August 8th in the area of East Division Street and Pennsylvania Avenue.  A 50-year-old victim was walking in the area, when two suspects (white males) approached and said “Hello” to the victim.  The suspects then struck the man in the head, knocking him unconscious and took an undisclosed amount of cash from his wallet.  The suspects were described as 16-17 year old white males.  One suspect was wearing a lime green shirt, tan shorts, and raiding a red BMX style bike.  The second suspect was wearing a navy blue shirt with a blue BMX style bike.
