Narrative:

The Dover Police Department is investigating a robbery that occurred on Tuesday evening at approximately 7:28PM. A 34-year-old victim was walking westbound on S. Little Creek Road in the area of Safeway when he was approached by two young black male suspects.  The suspects threatened to shoot him if he did not stop.  The suspects took an undisclosed amount of cash from the victim and fled from the scene.  Officers responded to the area and during an area search, arrested one suspect identified as Malik Washington.  Washington was arrested and charged with the following crimes:
-Robbery 2nd Degree
-Conspiracy 2nd Degree
-Terroristic Threatening

Washington was committed to JTVCC in default of $2500.00 secured bond.

Date/Time:  December 12th, 2015 between 8:00AM-3:07PM

Location:  400 Block of Barrister Place, Dover, DE

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department is investigating a residential burglary that occurred on Saturday, December 12th.  Sometime between 8:00AM and 3:07PM, an unknown suspect(s) entered the residence by breaking a glass door.  While inside the suspect ransacked the residence and stole numerous items, including:
Mongoose Bicycle
32″ Sony Television
Xbox 360

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department is investigating a Sunday night robbery of a Pizza Hut restaurant.  At approximately 11:26PM, a males suspect entered the business and pointed a handgun at a store employee and demanded money.  The employee complied and the suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.  The suspect was described as a black male, 5’8″-5’10”, 175-200lbs, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, black cloth over his face, dark grey sweatpants, dark grey snow vest, and light grey sneakers.

The Dover Police Department’s Third Annual Holiday Heroes event is set to happen on Wednesday, December 16th from 6-8pm.  The program was at risk with a decline in private donations, but thanks to several businesses and organizations this will be the largest Christmas trip in the history of Holiday Heroes.  In all, 24 local children will be paired with a police officer at Target for fun, bonding, and getting the Christmas they may not have had otherwise.  This year, the Dover Police Department partnered with Communities in Schools and the Capital School District to identify children in need.  The Dover Police Department secured nearly $5,000 in donations.  The department raised almost $1500.00 through online and personal fundraising efforts, with the other donations coming from the following businesses and organizations:

$1,500-It’s all Good In Delaware
$1,500-Communites in Schools 
Radio Promotion donated by Eagle 97.7 Petch and Amy in the Morning

Without the assistance of these local businesses and organizations, the Holiday Heroes program was going to be limited in the number of children and families in 2015.  The Dover Police Department is appreciative of the community support to make 2015 the biggest event to date.  Media is permitted to attend the event , but must RSVP with M/Cpl. Location:  Village Drive (The Hamlet), Dover, DE

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department is investigating an afternoon shooting that took place in The Hamlet development, on Village Drive. At approximately 4:08PM, patrol officers responded to the area for a report of shots fired.  Officers checked the area but found no victims or evidence of gunfire at the time.  Approximately three hours later, a 16-year-old male victim arrived at Kent General Hospital with a single gunshot wound to his shoulder area.  The victim was treated and released from the hospital for the wound.

The Dover Police Department is issuing a safety alert to its citizens following a series of thefts that occurred as a result of internet sales meetings.  Currently, the department is investigating at least three reports where victims have met prospective buyers from the popular online classified sales website, Craigslist.  The three cases involve sales of small electronic devices.  In each case the victim has met the suspect(s) in the parking lot of a shopping center.  When the suspect asks to inspect the device, they have fled each time with the item.  No injuries or altercations have occurred to date, but the potential for danger is very high in these situations.  As a result the Dover Police Department is inviting citizens who are selling or buying items to meet in the public parking lot of the police department or in front of the police department on Bank Lane.  Buyers and sellers may also utilize the porch area of the front entrance to the police department under the overhang, but must not hinder the anyone’s ability to enter or exit the department.  Please keep in mind that the department nor any of its employees will act as a witness to a sale or be involved in any agreements or civil matters involving sales once completed.  The Dover Police Department is simply allowing a safe haven for sales to take place without interrupting police operations or access to police services.  The Dover Police Department is also sharing the following tips for those who choose not to use the designated department locations:

• Insist on a public meeting place like a cafe, shopping center parking lot, etc.
• Do not meet in a secluded place, or invite strangers into your home.
• Be especially careful buying/selling high value items.
• Consider making high-value exchanges at your local police station.
• Tell a friend or family member where you’re going or when you’re having a buyer/seller in your home.
• Take your cell phone along if you have one.
• Consider having a friend accompany you.
• Trust your instincts.

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department arrested a man with two loaded handguns during a traffic stop on Saturday afternoon.  While on patrol in the area of Bay Road and Lafferty Lane a Dover police officer stopped a vehicle for a registration violation.  During the stop, the officer could detect a faint odor of marijuana and noticed cigar filling and marijuana seeds on the floor of the vehicle.  The officer asked for and was provided the names of the driver and both the front and back seat passengers.  A computer check discovered that the front seat passenger, Jason Mills, was wanted on a local fugitive warrant (capias).  During this time, the officer noticed an unusual amount of movement in the vehicle, raising suspicion that the subjects were hiding something.  The officer removed Mills and the other subjects from the vehicle and checked under the passenger seat where Mills was seated.  Under the seat was a 9mm Glock handgun and .38 Colt revolver, both loaded.  Mills admitted to the officer that the firearms belonged to him and was taken into custody without incident.

Mills was charged with the following offenses:
-Carry Concealed Deadly Weapon
-Possession of Firearm by Person Prohibited (2x)
-Possession of Ammunition by Person Prohibited (2x)

Mill was committed to JTVCC on $12,000 secured bond.
