Attempted Robbery at East Side Package Store 7-22-16

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department is investigating an attempted armed robbery that occurred on Wednesday night.  At approximately 10:38PM, two suspects appraoched the East Side Package Store, carrying firearms.  The suspects attempted to pull the door open, but it was locked.  One suspect motioned to the clerk to open the door, but they refused.  The suspects fled  shortly after in an unknown direction.  The suspected were described as two black males, one wearing all black, and the other wearing a white tank top.

Two Arrested After Robbing 14-Year-Old 7-22-16

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department arrested two suspects shortly after robbing a 14-year-old on Wednesday afternoon.  The 14-year-old was in the area of the park on the southwest corner of Division Street and Park Drive when he was approached by Jaquan Crump (20) and William Hoyle (15).  The suspects stole a Louis Vuitton belt worn by the victim and fled.  A short time later, the suspects were found and taken into custody by Dover Police officers.

Both suspects were charged with the following offenses:
-Robbery 2nd Degree
-Conspiracy 2nd Degree
-Offensive Touching

Crump was committed to JTVCC in default of $1,700 secured bond.  Hoyle was committed to Stevenson Center in default of $1,700 secured bond.

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department arrested 26-year-old David Randall following a motor vehicle accident that killed a six-year-old girl.  Randall drove into the parking lot of White Oak Condos located at 1001 White Oak Road at approximately 8:26PM.  Randall attempted to park his vehicle, a 2002 Ford Focus, in a parking space in front of L Building.  Randall sped forward onto the sidewalk where six-year-old Anya Jackson, her mother (LeShell Wiles), and a family friend were standing.  Randall struck all three people, pinning Jackson against the building and injuring the others.  All three victims were transported to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital where Anya Jackson succumbed to her injuries as a result of multiple blunt force trauma.  Wiles and the third victim were treated for non-life threatening injuries.

David Randall was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash and was committed to JTVCC on $34,100 Secured Bond on the following charges:
-Vehicular Homicide 1st Degree
-Vehicular Assault 2nd Degree (x2)
-Driving Under the Influence

UPDATE:  In an earlier press release, it was stated that the driver struck the six-year-old victim three times.  This information was obtained from different people at the scene by the investigating officer.  Newly discovered video evidence shows that the victim was struck just once.  We will provide an update with a mug shot and bond information as soon as it is available.

UPDATE:  In an earlier press release, it was stated that the driver struck the six-year-old victim three times.  This information was obtained from different people at the scene by the investigating officer.  Newly discovered video evidence shows that the victim was struck just once.  We will provide an update with a mug shot and bond information as soon as it is available.

Residential Burglary on Carvel Drive 7-20-16

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department is investigating a residential burglary that occurred on Tuesday night.  Between 9:00PM and 11:00PM an unknown suspect forced open the front door to a residence in the 800 Block of Carvel Drive.  Once inside, they removed a flat screen television and a microwave before fleeing the area.

Dover Police Warn of Electric Bill Scam

The City of Dover electric/utility department has received calls from several customers stating that they have received calls from persons claiming to be with “Delmarva Power” or “City of Dover” with a work order to cut their electricity off and offer a 1-800 number to call.  Please be advised that this is a scam.  The City Of Dover does not place calls to collect payments.  Please do not send money by phone, pre-paid cards, or through money services such as Western Union, etc.  If you have reason to believe that your electricity is at risk of being shut off, contact the City of Dover or your respective utility company yourself to get information.  Never send money.
