Fugitive Arrested for Robbery 7-13-16

UPDATE:

Jaimere Wayman was arrested onMonday, July 11th, 2016 by the Delaware First State Fugitive Task Force with assistance from the Dover Police Street Crimes and Drugs, Vice, and Organized Crime Unit.  Waymanw as located at a residence in the 1500 Block of S. Governors Avenue and was arrested without incident.  he was committed to JTVCC on $95,000 cash bond on the charges detailed in the original release (see below).

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department have obtained a warrant for the arrest of Jaimere Wayman (20) after determining he was the suspect in an armed robbery of two women on Tuesday night.  At approximately 9:45PM, Wayman approached two female victims with a knife and handgun and demanded a purse that was in their possession.  He then fled the area as police arrived.  During a search of the area, police located the purse and a handgun.  Wayman was not located and is currently wanted on the following charges:
-First Degree Robbery
-Conspiracy 2nd Degree
-Possession of a Firearm During Commission of A Felony
-Aggravated Menacing
-Resisting Arrest

Burglary at Dollar Tree 7-11-16

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department is investigating a burglary at the Dollar Tree located at 261 N. DuPont Highway.  The incident occurred a 1:48AM, when two unknown suspects broke into the business through a rear door.  Once inside, they ransacked the office and stole approximately $50 worth of merchandise from the store before fleeing.  The suspects are described as two black males, one with a thin build, grey shirt, and black shorts.  The second male had no shirt, with black pants with a white stripe on the side.  Both suspects had their faces covered during the incident.

Burglary at Kent Budget Motel, Suspect Arrested 7-11-16

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department is investigating a burglary at the Kent Budget Motel.  The incident occurred sometime before 9:45AM on Saturday when an Phillip Plummer (34) entered the rear of the business office by forcing entry through a back door.  Once inside, he took an undisclosed amount of cash from the office and fled.  Security footage helped in the identification of Plummer as a resident at the hotel.  Plummer was arrested without incident and released on $3,500 unsecured bond on the following charges:

Two Arrested on Drug Charges 7-11-16

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department Street Crimes Unit arrested two men on drug charges following a traffic stop on Friday night.  Officers conducted the stop for a cell phone violation at 10:15PM in the area of North Street, just east of S. New Street.  Officers detected a strong odor of marijuana in the vehicle and later discovered 47.8 grams of marijuana in the vehicle, pacaged for sale.  As a result, Jeffery Collins (31) and David Taylor (22) were released on unsecured bond on the following charges:
-Possession with Intent to Deliver Marijuana
-Drug Paraphernalia
-Conspiracy 2nd Degree

Suspect Arrested on Drug Charges After Fleeing from Traffic Stop 7-11-16

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department Street Crimes Unit working with Delaware Probation and Parole, arrested Norman Singleton (38) on drug charges.  On  Thursday, July 7th at 3:57PM, officers conducted a traffic stop in the parking lot of the Dover Inn.  Singleton, who was the driver, fled from officers but was apprehended across the street at US Gas.  A search of Singleton led to the discovery of 9.4 grams of crack cocaine packaged for distribution.  Singleton was committed to JTVCC on $17,500 cash bond on the following charges:
-Possession with Intent to Deliver Crack Cocaine
-Possession of Crack Cocaine Tier 1 Qty
-Endangering the Welfare of a Child

Demonstrators Cause Brief Closure of S. DuPont Highway 7-9-2016

Narrative:

On Saturday, July 9th at approximately 7:00PM, the Dover Police Department was made aware of an organized march/protest in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.  The group of approximately 40-60 people gathered on Water Street before walking north towards Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.  After circling the intersection, the group made its way back toward Water Street, and eventually walked into the southbound lanes of S. DuPont Highway, blocking traffic in those lanes.  Dover Police officers responded to the nearest intersection at Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, to shut down the roadway to ensure motorists and demonstrators were not at risk of a traffic accident.  Shortly after, the demonstrators proceeded to block the northbound lanes at the same intersection, causing additional officers to shut down the Public Safety Blvd. intersection.  This stretch of roadway was closed by police for approximately 5-10 minutes as the crowd dissipated on their own.  The demonstrators cleared the area a short time later with no arrests being made by Dover Police officials.

Robbery on S. Kirkwood Street 7-5-16

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department is investigating a robbery that occurred on Monday night.  At approximately 9:30PM, the 53-year-old male victim was walking in the area of S. Kirkwood Street, just south of Division Street.  The victim stated that he was attached by two black males and a female suspect.  The victim was punched and kicked multiple times causing several head/facial injuries.  During the attack, the suspects also stole the victims shoes and wallet that contained an undisclosed amount of cash.  The victim was later treated at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital for his injuries.

Fatal Collision N. DuPont Highway/W. Denney’s Road 7-2-16

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department Collision Reconstruction Team is investigating a fatal accident that occurred early on Saturday morning.  At approximately 3:42AM, Tobby Ayers (47) was riding a bicycle in the left turn lane of northbound N. DuPont Highway, approaching W. Denney’s Road.  At the same time, a 2002 Chevrolet Malibu operated by a 32-year-old male was traveling southbound in the right lane of N. DuPont Highway approaching W. Denney’s Road.  Ayers, who had a red light, made a left turn and attempted to cross N. DuPont Highway directly in the path of the Chevrolet Malibu. Ayers was struck by the vehicle as a result and died as a result of his injuries.  It is believed that Ayers was possibly intoxicated and that alcohol was a contributing factor in this accident.  The driver of the Malibu does not face any charges at this time.
