Suspect Arrested in Residential Burglary 10-17-16

Narrative:

A 28-year-old Dover man was arrested for a residential burglary on Monday morning after he fled from arriving officers.  At 9:51AM, officers were called to a home on the Unit Block of N. Governors Avenue for a burglary.  The suspect was stole numerous items and fled the home after being confronted by the owner.  Police arrived and located Jeremy Hunt and attempted to stop him at Queen Street and Reed Street.  Hunt fled on a bicycle from the officers until he was stopped at Bank Lane and taken into custody.  Hunt will be charged with the following offenses as a result of the incident:
-Burglary 2nd Degree
-Theft Under $1,000
-Resisting Arrest

Bond information is not available as the suspect is awaiting arraignment.

Occupied Home Shot Multiple Times 10-17-16

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department responded to a shooting in the 400 Block of New Castle Avenue on Sunday night.  At approximately 11:45PM, an unknown suspect fired multiple shots in the area, striking a home in the 400 Block of New Castle Avenue at least three times that was occupied by five people.  Multiple shell casings were found in the area.

Shooting in Parking Lot of Route 8 WAWA 10-17-16

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department is investigating a Sunday morning shooting that occurred in the parking lot of WAWA at 1450 Forrest Avenue.  At approximately 1:04AM, officers in the area heard shot fired at the convenience store.  As officers arrived, they observed a large SUV flee at a high rate of speed.  Officers stopped the vehicle and learned that an unknown suspect had fired a gun in their direction as a fight was about to start in the parking lot.  A short time later, a 21-year-old male was contacted at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital with a gunshot wound to his right elbow.  The victim told investigators that he was pumping gas when he was shot in the elbow and received a ride to the hospital from friends.  Detectives are working to identify the suspect  in the shooting at this time.

Traffic Violation Leads to Drug Arrest 10-17-16

Narrative:

The Dover Police Street Crimes Unit arrested Pierre Downs (39) just one week after being arrested on robbery and weapons charges.  Officers attempted to stop an orange Dodge Charger that was seen driving at a high rate of speed in the area of North New Street at Fulton Street.  The vehicle failed to stop despite officers attempting to pull it over, traveling to Lincoln Street and Forrest Street and stopping for police.  Officers contacted Pierre Downs who was found to be in possession of 1.5 grams of crack cocaine and $1,019 in drug proceeds.  It was also learned that Downs ingested an unknown amount of crack cocaine in an attempt to conceal it from officers and had to be treated at a local hospital as a result.  Downs’ bond from his October 7th arrest was revoked and he was committed to JTVCC on $26,350 secured bond on the following charges:
-Possession with Intent to Deliver Cocaine
-Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
-Resisting Arrest
-Tampering with Physical Evidence
-Disregard Police Officer Signal
-Multiple Traffic Offenses

Arrest Made in Monroe Terrace Shooting 10-17-16

UPDATE:

Detectives identified and arrested 16-year-old Sencier Mansfield in the October 14th shooting on Monroe Terrace.  Mansfield was identified as the suspect during the investigation and was arrested without incident on Saturday evening and charged with
Possession of a Firearm by Person Prohibited (juvenile) and Criminal Mischief.

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department is investigating a late night shooting that damaged a vehicle on Friday.  At approximately 11:51PM, officers responded to the 900 Block of Monroe Terrace for a shots fired call.  No persons were injured, however a 2015 Dodge Dart was struck multiple times.
