Dover Police Police Officer Application Deadline Approaching 3-16-2018

The Dover Police Department will accept applications for the 2018 hiring process for police officers on March 23rd, 2018 at 3:00PM.  Any applications received after this time/date will remain on file for the 2019 hiring process.  Applicants who submit their applications on time will receive a letter in the mail disclosing the time and location for the physical and written exams to be held on April 7th and 8th, 2018.  If you have any questions regarding the hiring process, please call the Dover Police Department Planning and Training Unit at 302-736-7116 or visit doverpolice.org/careers.

Traffic Stop Leads to Firearms and Drug Arrest 3-16-2018

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department Street Crimes Unit, working with Delaware Probation and Parole, arrested 35-year-old Alfred Terry on drug and weapons charges following a traffic stop on Thursday night.  At approximately 7:59PM, officers stopped Terry in the are of Buckson Drive and Bacon Avenue.  During the traffic stop, officers could smell marijuana coming from the vehicle.  During a search of the vehicle, officers located 89.7 grams of marijuana and a loaded 9mm handgun.  The hand gun was later discovered to be reported stolen.  

Terry was released after posting $33,600 secured bail on the following charges:
-Possession of Firearm/Ammo by Person Prohibited (2x)
-Possession of Firearm During Commission of Felony
-Carry Concealed Deadly Weapon
-Possession of Stolen Firearm
-Possession with Intent to Deliver Marijuana
-Drug Paraphernalia

Residential Burglary on Roosevelt Avenue 3-16-2018

Location:   100 Block of Roosevelt Avenue, Dover, DE

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department is investigating a residential burglary that occurred in the 100 Block of Roosevelt Avenue.  Sometime between Thursday, March 1st, 2018 and Thursday, March 15th, 2018 an unknown suspect(s) entered the residence after breaking a rear window.  The suspect took an unknown amount of cash and jewelry from the residence before fleeing.  No known suspect information is available at this time.
