Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department conducted a search warrant at an apartment at 30 S. New Street on Tuesday morning which led to the arrest of three suspects on drug-related charges.  The search warrant was the result of a drug investigation of the apartment.  Three suspects were taken into custody without incident.  Sherelle Morris (40) was found to be in possession of heroin, crack cocaine, and drug paraphernalia.

Stanley Stanford  (52) was released on $2,500 unsecured bond on a single charge of Maintaining a Drug Property.

Sherelle Morris (40) was issued an $800 unsecured bond on the following offenses, but is being held on a Violation:
-Possession of Heroin
-Possession of Cocaine
-Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
-Tampering with Physical Evidence
-Local Fugitive

Joseph Bradley (51) was released on a criminal summons on one count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

 

Burglary at Holiday Inn Hotel Room 1-30-2019

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department is investigating a burglary that occurred at the Holiday Inn located at 561 N. DuPont Highway.  At approximately 10:48PM on Monday, January 28th, a suspect used a rock to break a hotel room window.  Once inside, they stole a flat screen television before fleeing.  The suspect was a black male, wearing black coat, and brown pants.

Dover Police Make Arrest in Tire Slashing Cases 1-30-2019

UPDATE:

The Dover Police Department has arrested Anthony Williams (24) in connection with the tire slashing incident throughout Dover.  At approximately 6:53PM, officers from the Dover Police Department observed a blue 2006 Toyota Corolla in the area of West Division Street and North West Street with a passenger side headlight out.  This vehicle also matched the description of the vehicle described and shown in the original press release (see below).  Officers immediately smelled marijuana in the vehicle and located a small amount  inside as well as a black pocket knife.  Anthony Williams was taken into custody and questioned in reference to the ongoing criminal mischief cases where dozens of victim’s had their tires slashed.  During the investigation, it was learned that Williams was responsible for 32 acts of cutting tires with five of those incidents occurring in July of 2018.

-Possession of Marijuana

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department is investigating a series of tire slashing incidents that have occurred since at least January 19th, 2019.  The department has responded to nearly 20 incidents where vehicles have had their tires slashed.  The large majority of these cases have occurred in the commercial/business district along the 13/113 corridor in Dover.  In most cases, the victim’s vehicles had two tires slashed on the driver or passenger side.  Investigating officers were able to obtain surveillance footage of a possible suspect vehicle.  In the video, the suspect vehicle is seen pulling into a WAWA convenience store on the passenger side of a red sedan. While the video is not clear, the suspect exits the dark-colored vehicle and cuts both passenger side tires before fleeing.  The vehicle is believed to be a dark blue colored, 4-door sedan, with a silver rim/hubcap on the rear passenger side and a dark-colored wheel/rim on the front passenger side.  Investigators are hoping this distinct detail will lead to tips from the public about the location of the vehicle and possible suspect information.

Burglary at Diamond State Grill 1-29-2019

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department is investigating a burglary that occurred at the Diamond State Grill.  The incident occurred sometime between 11:30PM on Monday, January 28th, and 6:00AM on Tuesday, January 29th.  During that time, an unknown suspect broke a glass window and entered the business. Once inside, an undisclosed amount of cash was removed prior to the suspect fleeing the area.

Update: Arrest Made in Two “LetGo” Sales App Robberies 1-29-2019

UPDATE: The Dover Police Department has arrested Garrett Hawkins (18) in connection with two robberies involving the LetGo secondhand sales app.  Hawkins was arrested on Monday evening by the Dover Police Department and US Marshals First State Fugitive Task Force. 

Garrett was charged in connection with the two incidents that occurred at Country Village Apartments.  The incident that occurred in the Hamlet Shopping Center remains under investigation at this time.

Garrett was committed to SCI in default of $47,500 cash bond on the following offenses:
-Robbery 1st Degree
-Robbery 2nd Degree
-Possession of Deadly Weapon During Commission of Felony
-Conspiracy 2nd Degree
-Terroristic Threatening

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department is investigating a robbery that occurred in the parking lot of Country Village Apartments on Saturday evening at approximately 8:32PM.  At that time, a 50-year-old male victim was in the parking lot of the apartment complex waiting to meet an alleged seller from the “LetGo” mobile app to purchase a cell phone.  He was approached by a black male suspect who snatched the phone from him and fled in a grey colored Pontiac G6 sedan.  The victim fell to the ground as a result of the suspect snatching the phone from him, causing minor abrasions to his arm.

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department is investigating a robbery that occurred in the parking lot of the Hamlet Shopping Center on Walker Road that occurred at approximately 7:16PM on Sunday evening.  A male and female victim agreed to meet a “buyer” of a cell phone from the “LetGo” mobile app in the parking lot.  Upon arrival, a black male exited a blue or purple Honda CR-V and entered the back seat of the victim’s vehicle.  The suspect (described as a black male in his mid-20’s, tall with a slim build) displayed a handgun and demanded their belongings.  The suspect then fled with two cell phones and entered the Dollar General in the shopping center, fleeing shortly after.

These incidents mark the 2nd and 3rd such incidents in a 10-day period involving a secondhand sales mobile app.  The first occurred on January 10th in the parking lot of Country Village Apartments (See: Robbery in Parking Lot of Country Village Apts).  

The Dover Police Department would like to remind the community that the department allows the use of the parking lot, front entrance, and surrounding areas of the police department for online sales meets.  Buyers and sellers may also utilize the porch area of the front entrance to the police department under the overhang, but must not hinder the anyone’s ability to enter or exit the department.  Please keep in mind that the department nor any of its employees will act as a witness to a sale or be involved in any agreements or civil matters involving sales once completed.  The Dover Police Department is simply allowing a safe haven for sales to take place without interrupting police operations or access to police services.  The Dover Police Department is also sharing the following tips for those who choose not to use the designated department locations:

  • Insist on a public meeting place like a cafe, shopping center parking lot, etc.
  • Do not meet in a secluded place, or invite strangers into your home.
  • ONLY meet during daylight hours or in well-lit and heavily populated areas.
  • Be especially careful buying/selling high value items.
  • Consider making high-value exchanges at your local police station.
  • Tell a friend or family member where you’re going or when you’re having a buyer/seller in your home.
  • Take your cell phone along if you have one.
  • Consider having a friend accompany you.
  • Trust your instincts.

Arrest Made in Grey Fox Bar & Grill Burglary 1-25-2019

UPDATE:
The Dover Police Department arrested Justin Llera (35), of Dover, for the burglary at Grey Fox Bar and Grill.  Llera was developed as a suspect based on information obtained during the investigation.  As a result, Llera was charged with Burglary 2nd Degree and Theft Under $1,500.  Llera was received an unsecured bond of $4,000 on the charges but is being held at SCI on unrelated charges at this time.
