Traffic Stop Leads to Firearms and Drug Arrests 1-17-2020

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department arrested two on firearms and marijuana charges during a traffic stop on Thursday night.  At approximately 8:39PM, officers observed a silver sedan traveling southbound on Bay Road with one headlight.  Officers stopped the vehicle in the area of Bay Road and Presidents Drive.  During the vehicle stop, officers detected a strong door of marijuana coming from the vehicle.  A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a loaded handgun that had been previously reported stolen, 53 grams of marijuana, a digital scale, and packaging materials.  Lamar Howard (17) and Sadique Ingram (19) were both taken into custody without incident.

Lamar Howard was charged with the following offenses:
-Possession of a Firearm During Commission of Felony
-Possession of a Firearm by Person Prohibited (2x)
-Possession with Intent to Deliver Marijuana
-Receiving Stolen Firearm
-Conspiracy 2nd Degree
-Drug Paraphernalia

Two Arrested on Drug and Firearms Charges in Persimmon Tree Apartments 1-15-2020

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department and Delaware Probation and Parole arrested two people on drug and firearms charges on Tuesday afternoon.  The Dover Police Department was assisting Probation and Parole on a home visit on Javon Pollard (23), who was a pre-trial service probationer on pending charges.  Pollard and Shyasia Hood (23) were contacted in front of their apartment building inside a vehicle.  A strong odor of marijuana was coming from the vehicle when they were contacted.  Both subjects were taken into custody without incident and a search warrant was obtained for the apartment.  Inside of the apartment, officers located 22.6 grams of crack cocaine, a .22 caliber handgun, .22 caliber ammunition, $2,500 in drug proceeds, and 17 grams of marijuana.

Harrington Man Arrested on Gun and Drug Charges After Fleeing Police 1-14-2020

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department arrested a 44-year-old from Harrington on drug and firearm charges following a short vehicle pursuit early Tuesday morning.  At approximately 1:56AM, officers attempted to stop a gray Audi for a traffic violation.  The operator, George Jones, failed to stop and proceeded to drive, attempting to elude police.  Jones proceeded into an alley in the rear of the 1000 Block of S. State Street and struck a garage and a parked vehicle.  Jones then exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended.  

A search of Jones’ vehicle led to the discovery of a .40 caliber handgun (with obliterated serial number), 9.09 grams of crack cocaine, 47.9 grams of marijuana, 97 bags of heroin, and a digital scale.

Man Shot in Home on West North Street 1-13-2020

Narrative: 

Dover Police are investigating a shooting that occurred in the early morning hours of Sunday, January 12th that left a man with four gunshot wounds.  The 39-year-old male victim called 911 reporting that multiple suspects entered his home demanding property and then fired multiple shots, striking the victim four times.  The victim was transported to Kent General Hospital, where it was learned that his wounds were not life threatening.  

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Dover Police Department at (302)736-7130. Simultaneous Search Warrants Lead to Nine Arrests, Seizure of Drugs and Firearms on S. New Street 1-13-2020

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department arrested nine persons as the result of a pair of search warrants that were simultaneously executed on Friday afternoon with the assistance of the Delaware State Police and Delaware Probation and Parole.  The search warrants were the result of a drug and firearms investigation at both of the residences.

At a residence in the 100 Block of S. New Street, officers arrested Joseph Brown (52) and John Baker (21).  Brown was found to be in possession of 1 gram of heroin, 2.5 grams of crack cocaine, two oxycodone pills, packaging materials, and $635 in cash.  Brown was later released on an O.R. bond on the following charges:
-Possession with Intent to Deliver Heroin
-Possession with Intent to Deliver Crack Cocaine
-Possession of Heroin
-Possession of Controlled Substance (Oxycodone)
-Drug Paraphernalia

John Baker was committed to SCI on a Violation of Probation charge that he was wanted on at the time of the search warrant.

The second search warrant was executed at a home in the Unit Block of S. New Street.  As a result of this search warrant, officers located the following items: 250 grams of marijuana, two .40 caliber handguns, digital scales, and packaging materials.

Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest of Three Men for Firearms and Drug Charges 1-8-2020

Narrative:

Three men were charged with firearm and drug charges following a traffic stop on Tuesday evening.  Officers stopped a black Dodge Dart in the area of West Division Street and S. DuPont Highway at approximately 8:22PM for a traffic violation.  When the officers approached the vehicle, they could detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.  During a search of the vehicle, officers located a loaded 9mm handgun with an extended magazine, 2.1 grams of marijuana, 9 doses of ecstasy, and $460 in drug proceeds.  

All three occupants were taken into custody without incident.

Two Arrested on Drug and Gun Charges at Residence on River Road 1-8-2020

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department and Delaware Probation and Parole arrested two men on drug and firearms offenses on Tuesday morning.  At approximately 11:50AM, Dover Police were assisting Delaware Probation and Parole officers with a probation check on Shaheed Berry (22) in the 500 Block of River Road.  

Officers from both agencies went to the front and rear doors of the residence and observed Dakota Borntreger (18) attempting to flee from the rear of the residence.  Officers were able to detain Borntreger in the basement of the residence and noticed a strong odor of marijuana and a handgun in plain view.

At that time, a search warrant was obtained for the residence.  During the search, officers located a .40 caliber handgun, $522 in drug proceeds, drug paraphernalia, 3.3 grams of marijuana, and 170 bags of heroin.
