Suspect Wanted in Hotel Room Robbery 5-11-2020

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department is searching for a suspect in a robbery that occurred on Sunday afternoon.  At approximately 12:38PM, two black males forced entry into a hotel room at the Kent Budget Inn and demanded cash while pointing a firearm at the three occupants.  The suspects stole one woman’s purse and an undisclosed amount of cash from another victim.  During the incident a male victim (36) sustained a minor laceration to his forehead after being struck by a suspect, a female victim (45) sustained a lip injury after being struck by a suspect, and a 60-year-old female sustained a lower leg injury that required surgery at Kent General Hospital.  

Detectives were able to review area surveillance and identify Deshaun Harris (42) as one of the suspects involved in the incident.  Harris has a last known address of Lebanon Road in Dover, DE.

Shooting on Willis Road 5-11-2020

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department is investigating a shooting that left an 18-year-old female with a gunshot wound to her head.  Officers responded to the 100 Block of Willis Road at approximately 8:41PM on Sunday, May 10th for a report of shots fired.  While responding, officers were flagged down by a vehicle that was transporting the victim to the hospital.  Officers escorted the vehicle to Kent General Hospital and stayed with the victim while she underwent medical treatment.  Additional officers responded to the scene and located several shell casings in the area.  The driver of the vehicle stated they were in the area when two black males began firing at his car.  The vehicle was struck approximately 14 times in the driver side.  One of the rounds struck the 18-year-old female in the head.  An occupied home in the area was also struck, however none of the occupants were injured.

The 18-year-old female is in stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery from her injuries.

Camden Man Charged After Accidental Discharge of Firearm in Grocery Store Parking Lot 5-11-2020

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department arrested 48-year-old Camden man after an accidental discharge of a firearm resulted in damage to a vehicle.  At approximately 1:26PM on May 9th, officers responded to the Lidl parking lot for a report of shots fired.  Upon arrival, they learned that a vehicle had been shot and that a white male suspect in a red colored Jeep SUV had fled the scene.  A witness reported seeing the suspect (David Perrera) fidgeting with an object in his lap when they heard a gunshot and saw that the suspect’s Jeep SUV had sustained damage as well as the other vehicle that was struck.

While officers were on scene gathering information, additional officers located the suspect’s SUV and conducted a vehicle stop in the area of 400 N. DuPont Highway in Dover.  Perrera was taken into custody without incident and a search warrant was obtained for the vehicle.  The search led to the discovery of a 9mm handgun inside of the vehicle, which Perrera was prohibited from possessing.

Perrera was committed to SCI on a $21,101 secured bond on the following charges:
-Possession of Firearm/Ammo by Person Prohibited
-Reckless Endangering 1st Degree
-Criminal Mischief 
-City Ordinance: Unlawful Discharge of Firearm
