Narrative:
The Dover Police Department is investigating an attempted armed robbery that occurred at the Simaron’s Pizza and Steak Shop on West Loockerman Street.  At approximately 5:34 p.m. on Tuesday, officers responded for the reported robbery at the restaurant.  According to the employees, an unknown black male suspect entered the business and waited for customers to leave the restaurant.  Once they left, the suspect attempted to jump the counter and gain access to the cash register.  Employees attempted to stop the suspect when they observed the suspect remove a black handgun from his waistband and exit the business after placing it in a backpack he was carrying.  The suspect fled on foot in an unknown direction and was only described as a black male with New Balance shoes and a backpack with an Under Armour logo on it.  A search of the area by responding officers was unsuccessful.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Dover Police Department at (302)736-7130.  Callers may remain anonymous.  Tips may also be submitted to law enforcement through Delaware Crime Stoppers at 800-TIP-3333 or online at delaware.crimestoppersweb.com; a cash reward is possible for information leading to an arrest.
