Narrative:

The Dover Police Department is investigating a shooting that left two persons injured on Wednesday evening.  At approximately 6:55 p.m., officers responded to the parking lot of TGI Friday’s restaurant at 222. S. DuPont Highway for a report of two persons being shot.  When officers arrived, they contacted a 20-year-old female with a single gunshot wound to her buttocks and a 22-year-old male with a single gunshot wound to the left arm.  

The investigation revealed that the pair was traveling on S. Little Creek Road, in the area of Fox Road, when a vehicle passed them on the left and the front seat passenger fired several shots as they were moving.  The suspect vehicle fled and the victims drove to the TGI Friday’s parking lot and notified police. 

Both victims were transported by ambulance to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.  

While specific details of the case cannot be disclosed at this time, detectives believe that this was not a random act based on information obtained during the investigation into this incident.

Dover Police Investigating Shooting Death of 19-Year-Old on Sussex Avenue 4-13-2021

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department is investigating the shooting death of a 19-year-old male that occurred on Monday evening.  Officers responded to the 400 Block of Sussex Avenue after receiving calls for a shooting at approximately 9:16 p.m.  When officers arrived, they located 19-year-old Dazhmier Brooks, who was unresponsive as a result of a gunshot wound to the chest.  Officers rendered aid to Brooks until medical personnel arrived on scene and transported him to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital.  Brooks later died as a result of his injury.  

The incident is the first homicide in the City of Dover in 2021.

Del-Mar Appliance Burglary 4-6-2021

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department is investigating a burglary that occurred at Del-Mar Appliance.  The incident occurred sometime between 6:00 p.m. on April 1st and 12:30 p.m. on April 2nd when an unknown suspect(s) broke out a front window and removed two sink faucets that were on display in the window.  No suspect information is available at this time.

Spruance Road Home Struck by Gunfire 4-5-2021

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department is investigating the shooting of a residence on Monday morning.  At approximately 12:28 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 100 Block of Spruance Road for shots fired.  The home was occupied by an adult female and two children at the time of the incident.  The residence was struck multiple times with several rounds penetrating the home.  No injuries occurred to any of the occupants.

Arrest Made During Residential Burglary on North Kirkwood Street 4-5-2021

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department arrested Winston Williams (41) for a residential burglary that took place on Friday, April 2nd.  At approximately 7:03 p.m., Williams went to a home in the Unit Block of North Kirkwood Street and entered the driver seat of the resident’s vehicle parked in the driveway and demanded a ride.  William’s erratic behavior alarmed the resident who struggled with Williams as he attempted to pull them into the vehicle.  Williams then exited the vehicle and ran inside the residence where the residents continued to struggle with Williams in the foyer area.  Williams was taken into custody by arriving officers.  One of the resident suffered a minor injury to their forehead but refused medical treatment.  Williams was treated at a nearby hospital for being under the influence of PCP.

Williams was committed to SCI in on a $11,600 secured bond on the following offenses:
