Narrative:
The Dover Police Department arrested five persons during a search warrant on Monday in connection with two shooting incidents that occurred at Whatcoat Apartments. At approximately 3:28 p.m. officers from the Dover Police Department and U.S. Marshal’s First State Fugitive Task Force executed the search warrant in the 900 Block of Whatcoat Apartments. As a result of the search warrant, officers recovered a revolver that was concealed in a toilet, a handgun, and assorted ammunition.
Duwanyae Smith (23,Chestertown, MD) was arrested in connection with a July 24th shooting that injured a 15-year-old. Smith was committed to SCI on a $184,000 cash bond on the following charges from the July 24th incident and the search warrant:
-Possession of a Firearm During Commission of Felony (2x)
-Possession of Firearm/Ammo by Person Prohibited (4x)
-Tampering with Physical Evidence
-Conspiracy 2nd Degree
-Reckless Endangering (2x)
A mugshot of Smith was not available at the time of release.
Three 17-year-old males and a 16-year-old male were also arrested during the search warrant. Of those offenders, Carnell Hill (16) and Unique Trader (17) were charged in connection with an August 9th shooting on Whatcoat Drive. Three offenders are from Dover and Trader is from the Camden, DE area.
Carnell Hill and Unique Trader were charged with the following offenses relating to the August 9th shooting incident:
-Reckless Endangering 1st Degree (3x)
-Carrying Concealed Deadly Weapon
-Possession of Firearm by Person Prohibited
-Possession of Firearm During Commission of Felony
All of the juveniles (including Hill and Trader) were also charged with the following offenses stemming from the search warrant:
-Possession of Firearm During Commission of Felony
-Possession of Firearm by Person Prohibited (2x)
-Tampering with Physical Evidence
-Conspiracy 2nd Degree
Carnell Hill was committed to Stevenson Juvenile Detention Center on a $26,500 secured bond.
Unique Trader was committed to Stevenson Juvenile Detention Center on a $49,000 cash bond.
Two 17-year-old offenders were committed to Stevenson Juvenile Detention Center on $26,500 secured bonds.
