Dover Police Welcome Public Comment Regarding Accreditation Review

PUBLIC NOTICE

The Dover Police Department is scheduled to undergo a virtual site-based assessment as part of a program to achieve national accreditation by verifying it meets a set of established professional standards.

Administered by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA), the accreditation program requires agencies to comply with state-of-the-art standards in four basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations and support services.

As part of the assessment, agency employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments by calling (302) 736-4203 on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Calls will be transferred directly to a member of the Assessment Team.

Agency employees and the public are also invited to offer comments at a public information session on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 from 6:00 to 7:00 pm. The session will be conducted via teleconferencing. Attendees must register in advance at www.doverpolice.org/comment.

Telephone comments as well as appearances at the public information session are limited to 10 minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with CALEA’s standards. Five Arrested During Search Warrant at Barrister Place

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department arrested five suspects on gun and drug charges following an investigation into drug sales from a residence in the 400 Block of Barrister Place.  Asa result of the investigation, officers executed a search warrant at 1:11 p.m. on Wednesday, November 10th at a residence in the 400 Block of Barrister Place.  During the search warrant the following suspects were taken into custody without incident:
Daquan Watson (21)
Jamia Brooks (20)
Male Juvenile #1 (15)
Male Juvenile #2 (16)
Male Juvenile #3 (16)

During a search of the residence, officers located three handguns, 9 MDMA pills, 1.5 grams of powdered MDMA, 127.9 grams of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.

Daquan Watson (21) was committed to SCI on a $25,000 secured bond on the following offenses:
-Illegal Gang Participation
-Possession of Firearm by Person Prohibited (2x)
-Carry Concealed Deadly Weapon

Jamia Brooks (20) was released on an O.R. bond on the following offenses:
-Possession with Intent to Deliver Marijuana
-Drug Paraphernalia

Male Juvenile #1 (15) was committed to a juvenile detention center on a $17,500 secured bond on the following offenses:
-Illegal Gang Participation
-Possession of Firearm by Person Prohibited (2x)
-Carry Concealed Deadly Weapon

Male Juvenile #2 (16) was committed to a juvenile detention center on a $15,500 secured bond on the following offenses:
-Illegal Gang Participation
-Possession of Firearm by Person Prohibited
-Carry Concealed Deadly Weapon
-Resisting Arrest

Male Juvenile #3 (16) was committed to a juvenile detention center on a $22,700 cash bond on the following offenses:
-Illegal Gang Participation
-Possession of Firearm by Person Prohibited (2x)
-Carry Concealed Deadly Weapon
-Possession with Intent to Deliver MDMA
-Possession of MDMA
-Drug Paraphernalia
