Employee Arrested for Attempted Burglary at Local Restaurant

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department arrested Recardo Weatherspoon (55) on burglary charges on Sunday following an incident at Frazier’s Restaurant. Officers responded to the restaurant for a reported burglary at 10:17 a.m. on Sunday, December 19th. During the investigation it was learned that Weatherspoon entered the business through a kitchen door while employees were still inside. Weatherspoon then hid inside the walk-in refrigerator until the restaurant was closed and all employees left. Weatherspoon was also an employee of Frazier’s. Weatherspoon broke a door to the management office and attempted to break into a safe containing cash but was unsuccessful. Weatherspoon then fled the area on foot. Officers located Weatherspoon on Sunday afternoon and arrested him without incident.

Weatherspoon was released on a $2,750 unsecured bond on the following charges:
-Attempted Burglary 3rd Degree
-Possession of Burglar Tools
-Attempted Theft
-Criminal Mischief

A mugshot was not available at time of release.

Traffic Stop Leads to Firearm and Drug Arrest on Spruance Road

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department arrested Darrell Hopkins (21) on drug and firearm offenses during a traffic stop on Sunday morning. Hopkins was stopped while operating a vehicle in the area of East Division Street and Spruance Road on December 19th. During the stop, officers observed a bag of marijuana on the rear floor of the vehicle. Hopkins was detained without incident. As officers checked the vehicle further, they located a loaded 9mm handgun as well. Hopkins was charged with the following offenses:
-Possession of Firearm by Person Prohibited
-Possession of Marijuana
-Tampering with Physical Evidence
