Stolen Vehicle Suspect Arrested After Pursuit

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department arrested a 27-year-old man after he stole a vehicle on Saturday night.  Officers took a report of stolen white Honda Accord from the unit block of South Governors Avenue.  Once the officer took the report, they observed the stolen vehicle being operated by Nafis Shakir in the area of Loockerman Street and South New Street.  Officers attempted to stop the car but Shakir fled from officers, traveling south on POW-MIA Parkway.  A police officer with the Camden Police Department successfully used Stop Sticks (tire deflation device), causing Shakir to stop the vehicle in the area of Old North Road in Camden.  Shakir exited the vehicle and fled on foot but was quickly apprehended by officers.  

Shakir was committed to SCI on a $6,325 bond on the following charges:
-Theft of Motor Vehicle
-Resisting Arrest
-Disregard Police Officer Signal
-Criminal Mischief (2x)
-Multiple Traffic Offenses

U.S. Gas Robbery Suspect Arrested

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department arrested a 61-year-old Dover man after he attempted to rob the U.S. Gas station on Thursday evening.  At approximately 7:44 p.m., Dwight Thorton entered the U.S. Gas located at 461 N. DuPont Highway and demanded merchandise while showing what appeared to be a handgun.  The employee called 911 and the suspect fled.  Officers located Thorton nearby and observed him throw a handgun that was later found to be a BB gun.  Thorton was arrested without incident and was committed to SCI on a $15,000 secured bond after being charged with Attempted Robbery 1st Degree.

Five Arrested During South New Street Drug Investigation

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department arrested five suspects on drug and firearms offenses on Wednesday afternoon in the 100 Block of South New Street.  Following a drug investigation, officers executed a search warrant at a residence at approximately 1:22 p.m.  Officers took five suspects into custody during the search warrant and located the following:
-.32 caliber revolver (reported stolen)
-5.6 grams of crack cocaine
-6.1 grams of powdered cocaine

Kyle Dixon (32, Dover) was charged with the following offenses and committed to SCI on a $50,200 cash bond:
-Possession of Firearm by Person Prohibited (3x)
-Conspiracy 2nd Degree

Camden Man Wanted for HVAC Thefts

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department has obtained felony theft warrants for Michael Young (56) of Camden, Delaware after determining he was a suspect in multiple HVAC unit thefts.  The first incident was reported on Saturday, February 5th when Young removed two 2-ton air condition units from home in the Village At McKee Branch.  It was later reported that a 2.5 ton Electric Heat Pump was stolen from a residence in the 300 Block of Stonebrook Place.  Young later pawned the items and received money for the units.  Young may be operating a dark blue 2004 Dodge Caravan (DE TAGS: PC188240), which he also used to transport the HVAC units.  Young is currently wanted on the following charges:

-Theft over $1,500 (2x)
-Criminal Mischief Under $1,500 (2x)
-Possession of Burglary Tools (2x)
-Theft by False Pretense (2x)
-Trespass 3rd Degree (2x)

Hartly Man Arrested for Weapons Offenses

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department arrested Alvin Cunningham (18) on weapons charges following a traffic stop on Monday night.  At approximately 9:03 p.m. on February 8th, officers contacted Cunningham who was stopped facing the wrong direction in the 300 Block of Fulton Street.  During the stop officers detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car.  Cunningham was detained without incident and during a search of the vehicle, officers located a 12 gauge shotgun concealed between the seats, brass knuckles, and 66 grams of marijuana.  

Cunningham was released on an O.R. bond on the following offenses:
-Possession of a Deadly Weapon by Person Prohibited
-Carrying Concealed Deadly Weapon
-Carrying Concealed Dangerous Instrument
-Possession of Marijuana
-Traffic Violation

Burglary at Dover Church of Christ

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department is investigating a burglary of Dover Church of Christ that occurred early Sunday morning.  Officers responded to the church located at 1156 South Governors Avenue  at approximately 3:02 p.m. when the burglary was discovered.  An unknown suspect broke the front glass door and entered the church.  While inside, they rummaged through several items, but it did not appear that anything was stolen.  Video surveillance showed a black male suspect enter the business wearing a yellow sweatshirt and black pants at approximately 3:40 a.m. and leaving nearly ten minutes later with a plastic bag.

Three Women Charged in River Road Home Invasion

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department arrested three female suspects for a home invasion that occurred early Friday morning.  At approximately 1:30 a.m. on February 4th, 2022, a 20-year-old female victim heard loud banging at the front of her residence.  Shortly after, a front window was shattered and three female suspect entered the home and began assaulting the victim and then fled in a maroon Nissan Altima.  While on scene, officers observed the Altima with the suspects pass by them.  Officer stopped the vehicle and arrested the three females without incident.  The driver (Tierra Watson, 26) was found to be under the influence at the time of the stop.  Raven Justice (25) was in possession of a handgun when contacted by officers.  At the time of the incident, the home was occupied by the victim and her child.
