Narrative:

The Dover Police Department is investigating a shooting that damaged an occupied home and a vehicle on Wednesday evening.  Officers responded to the 100 Block of North Halsey Road after a 22-year-old male victim advised that he heard multiple gunshots.  The victim’s house was struck multiple times while occupied by the victim and family members.  In addition to the home, an unoccupied vehicle in the unit block of North Halsey Road was also struck by gunfire.  If you wish to provide information on this case or other criminal activity, please contact the Dover Police Department at (302)736-7130.  Callers may remain anonymous.  Tips may also be submitted to law enforcement through Delaware Crime Stoppers at 800-TIP-3333 or online at delaware.crimestoppersweb.com; a cash reward is possible for information leading to an arrest.

Two Arrested for Firearms and Drug Offenses

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department arrested two men on drug and firearms charges on Tuesday evening.  Officers were conducting surveillance in the 800 Block of East Loockerman Street for a drug and firearm investigation when they observed Elijah Simmons (19) exit a residence and conduct a drug transaction with Jailen Parker (18).  Parker was stopped in his vehicle in the area of North DuPont Highway and Rustic Lane following the transaction.  During the stop, Parker was found to be in possession of 115.9 grams of marijuana and a handgun.   Officers then obtained a search warrant for the residence in the 800 Block of East Loockerman Street.  During the search warrant, Simmons was taken into custody without incident and the following items were located: -two handguns -69 ounces of Promethazine -584.3 grams of Marijuana -Ammunition                 Parker was released on a $6,000 unsecured bond on the following offenses: -Possession of Firearm by Person Prohibited-Possession Controlled Substance -Carry Concealed Deadly Weapon -Possession of Marijuana -Drug Paraphernalia Simmons was committed to SCI on a $68,500 cash bond on the following offenses: -Possession of Firearm During Commission of Felony -Possession of Firearm by Person Prohibited-Possession Controlled Substance (2x) -Possession of Untraceable Firearm -Possession with Intent to Deliver Promethazine -Possession with Intent to Deliver Marijuana -Possession of Marijuana -Drug Paraphernalia Simmons was also wanted out of Philadelphia (PA) Police for Forgery/Fraudulent Checks.

Burglary at Delaware Auto

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department is investigating a burglary that occurred at Delaware Auto at 319 West Division Street.  Officers responded to the business after the owner arrived to find a broken glass panel to a garage door and multiple items missing from within the garage.  The owner advised that he secured the business at approximately 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 22nd.  The damage and missing items was noticed while opening the business at approximately 6:45 a.m. on Saturday, April 23rd.

UPDATED (Subject Located): Gold Alert Issued for 29-Year-Old Dover Woman

UPDATE (Friday, April 22, 2022): The Gold Alert for Nyea Goldsberry has been cancelled. Goldsberry was located safely on the evening of Friday, April 22nd, 2022.

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department has issued a Gold Alert for a 29-year-old Dover woman. Nyea Goldsberry was last seen leaving her residence in the 800 Block of West Division Street on Wednesday, April 20th, 2022 at. approximately 11:00 a.m. Goldsberry has not returned since and suffers from cognitive disabilities that may impact her health and safety. Goldsberry was reported missing on the morning of April 21st, by a family member. Goldsberry is a black female, with brown eyes (wears grey colored contact lenses), black hair, 5’5″ and 185 pounds. It is unknown what she was last wearing when she left the residence.

Dover Man Arrested After Chasing Victim While Armed

Narrative:

On Sunday, April 17th at approximately 7:53 p.m., an officer on patrol in the area of White Oak Road was approached by a 24-year-old male who told the officer that he was being chased by a subject with a gun.  After obtaining a description of the suspect and the victim pointing out the suspect, the officer attempted to contact Brandon Gatewood (28) who was running towards Manchester Square.  When the officer approached, Gatewood fled on foot but was taken into custody shortly after.  During the pursuit, Gatewood was seen clutching his front waistband.  A search of the area where Gatewood ran led to the discovery of a loaded polymer handgun (often referred to as a ghost gun).   According to the victim, Gatewood approached the victim while he was seated in his vehicle on Starboard Court and pointed the firearm at him.  The victim then exited his vehicle and fled on foot.
