
UPDATE: The Dover Police Department has charged Ronald Matthews (54) of Dover in connection with the Dollar General burglary that occurred on February 28th, 2022. During the investigation, Matthews was developed as a suspect and warrants were obtained for his arrest. Matthews was being held at SCI on unrelated charges when the warrant was obtained. Matthews was issued a $4,000 unsecured bond on the following offenses: -Burglary 3rd Degree -Possession of Burglary Tools -Theft Under $1,500 -Criminal Mischief

Narrative:
The Dover Police Department is investigating a burglary that occurred at a Dollar General store at 282 South DuPont Highway. The incident occurred at approximately 6:27 a.m. when an unknown male suspect broke a front glass door to the business with a hammer. The suspect then entered and attempted to steal tobacco products from a locked case. After failing to gain entry to the tobacco items, the suspect stole multiple containers of laundry detergent before fleeing. The suspect was wearing a black jacket, navy blue sweatshirt, grey pants, and red and white shoes.
