Narrative:

The Dover Police Department arrested Murrell Kearney (24) on gun charges during a traffic stop on Sunday afternoon.  Officers stopped Kearney in the area of Walker Road and Saulsbury Road for a motor vehicle violation at approximately 12:46 p.m.  During the stop, officers could smell a strong odor of marijuana in the vehicle.  During a search a loaded 9mm handgun was located inside of the vehicle.

Kearney was released on an O.R. bond on a single charge of Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon.

Traffic Stop Leads to Drug and Firearms Arrest

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department arrested Javian Scott (18) on gun charges during a traffic stop on Saturday night.  Officer stopped Scott in the area of Lincoln Street and Forrest Street for a motor vehicle violation at approximately 10:58 p.m.  During the stop, officers could smell a strong odor of marijuana in the vehicle.  During a search, they located 23 grams of marijuana, a loaded .45 caliber handgun under the driver seat, and a loaded revolver in a backpack inside the vehicle.  

Scott was released after posting a $25,000 secured bond on the following charges:
-Possession of Firearm/Ammo by Person Prohibited (3x)
-Carry Concealed Deadly Weapon (2x)
-Possession of Marijuana

Shots Fired in Schutte Park

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department is investigating a large fight that resulted in shots being fired at Schutte Park on Saturday evening.  At approximately 7:08 p.m., officers responded to the park for a report of shots fired.  When they arrived, a large uncooperative crowd was dispersing.  Officers located multiple shell casings in the area and found that one vehicle was struck.  No injuries were reported.  It was learned that there was a large gathering/party in the park and that a fight occurred prior to shots being fired.   If you wish to provide information on this case or other criminal activity, please contact the Dover Police Department at (302)736-7130.  Callers may remain anonymous.  Tips may also be submitted to law enforcement through Delaware Crime Stoppers at 800-TIP-3333 or online at delaware.crimestoppersweb.com; a cash reward is possible for information leading to an arrest.
