UPDATE (Suspects Arrested) Burglary At Jolly Joe’s Liquor Store

The Dover Police Department has arrested Sierra Melvin, 18, and a 16-year-old black male, both of Dover, for the burglary that occurred at Jolly Joe’s Liquor Store on 1/5/23. Detectives were able to identify the two through video surveillance and obtained warrants for them. On 1/7/23 at 12:23 a.m., Dover Police Department received the call for the 16-year-male being disorderly in the unit block of Stevenson Drive Dover, DE. Officers responded and attempted to contact the 16-year-male, however he ran away and officers chased him on foot. The 16-year-old was taken into custody without further incident following the foot pursuit. 

Melvin was also in the area during this and she was taken into custody without incident.

Both Melvin and the 16-Year-Old male were transported to Dover Police where they were processed and arraigned.

Melvin was released on OR Bond on the following charges:
-Burglary Third Degree
-Theft Under $1500
-Criminal Mischief $1000 but less that $5000
-Conspiracy Second Degree

The 16-year-old male was committed to Stevenson House Detention Center on the following charges:
-Burglary Third Degree
-Theft Under $1500
-Criminal Mischief $1000 but less that $5000
-Conspiracy Second Degree
-Resisting Arrest

Narrative: The Dover Police Department is investigating a burglary that occurred at Jolly Joe’s Liquor Store, 1160 Whiteoak Road Dover, DE early Thursday morning. The investigation began when Dover Police was called to the business at 3:12 a.m. for a burglary alarm and it was reported that multiple suspects had entered the store. Officers responded and found the suspects had broken the front door allowing them to gain entry into the business. Through the investigation, it was revealed that four suspects broke into the business and once inside, they stole an undisclosed amount of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products. The suspects fled the area and have not been located. The suspect descriptions are as follows;

Suspect 1: unknown gender, light skinned, red jacket and gray pants
Suspect 2: light skin male with black jacket and dark pants
Suspect 3: black male with black hooded sweatshirt and white/gray/black pants
Suspect 4: black male with white top and black pants.

UPDATE (Suspect Arrested) Robbery at Woodcrest Apartments

Through this investigation, the Dover Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit was able to identify a 17-year-old white male, of Dover, as one of the suspects involved in this incident. On 01/11/23, the 17-year-old was taken into custody without incident and transported to Dover Police were he was processed and arraigned.

The 17-year-old was released to his parent on $10, 000 unsecured bail on the following charges:
-Robbery First Degree
-Conspiracy Second Degree

Narrative: The Dover Police Department is investigating a robbery that occurred Sunday night at Woodcrest Apartments. The investigation began when the victim reported the robbery on Monday, 1/9/23 at approximately 5:00 p.m. The ensuing investigation revealed the victim went to Woodcrest Apartments on Sunday at approximately 10:43 p.m. and parked in the parking lot of 892 Woodcrest Drive. After parking, three suspects entered the victim’s vehicle and one of the suspects displayed a handgun and demanded he turn over property. The victim turned over an undisclosed amount of money, a payment card, and a cell phone.

The suspects then fled in an unknown direction. Detective are working to identify all suspects involved and no suspect description is being released at this time.

Dover Man Arrested With Loaded Handgun Following Foot Pursuit

Narrative: The Dover Police Department has arrested Demetric Isabell, 18, of Dover, DE, for firearms charges after a foot pursuit Wednesday evening. The investigation began when Street Crimes Officers and Delaware Probation and Parole attempted to contact Isabell in the area of South Governors Ave and West Reed Street in reference to an on going investigation. Upon making contact with him, Isabell ran from officers and removed a loaded Glock 19 handgun with an extended magazine from his waistband and threw it on the ground. Officers were able to take Isabell into custody without further incident following the foot pursuit and he was found to be in possession of 7.7 grams of marijuana. 

Isabell was transported to Dover Police Department where he was processed and arraigned.

Isabell was committed to SCI on $63,100 cash bail on the following charges:
-Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited (4x)
-Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
-Tampering with Physical Evidence
-Resisting Arrest
-Possession of Marijuana
