Narrative: The Dover Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred in the 900 Block of Woodcrest Drive Tuesday evening. The investigation began at approximately 8:03 p.m., when Dover Police were called to the 900 block of Woodcrest Drive for the report of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers located a residence in the 900 block had been struck by gunfire. Officers contacted the residents of the house and determined that no one was injured as a result of this shooting.

The suspects fled in an unknown direction and a suspect description is currently unavailable.

Wanted Dover Man Arrested Following Search Warrant

Narrative: The Dover Police Department has arrested Jahheam Taylor, 22, of Dover, DE who was wanted by Dover Police for domestic related charges, following a search warrant Tuesday evening. The Drugs, Vice and Organized Crime Unit executed a search warrant on an apartment at 405 Country Drive, that was associated with Taylor. Taylor was taken into custody without incident and a search of the residence revealed 1,144.5 grams of marijuana, drug packaging material, $3,001, and ammunition. Taylor was transported to Dover Police where he was processed and arraigned.

Taylor was committed to SCI on $23,500 bail on the following charges:
-Possession with Intent to Deliver Marijuana
-Possession of Marijuana in a Tier 1 Quantity
-Possession of Ammunition by a Person Prohibited
-Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
-Breach of Release

UPDATE – Suspect Arrested In Connection With August 2022 Burglary at Walgreens

The Dover Police Department has arrested Nafis Shakir, 28, of Dover, following a burglary investigation that began in August of 2022. Through investigative measures, Shakir was developed as a suspect in the investigation and warrants were obtained for his arrest. On 01/17/23 at 6:09 p.m., Dover Police took Shakir into custody in the 100 block of Spruance Road Dover, DE. Shakir was transported to Dover Police where he was processed and arraigned.

Shakir was committed to SCI on $4,500 secured bail on the following charges:
-Burglary Third Degree
-Theft Over $1500
-Tampering with Physical Evidence
-Criminal Mischief

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department is investigating a commercial burglary that occurred on Saturday, August 6th, at Walgreens. During the overnight hours, while the business was closed, a black male wearing a black mask, light colored shirt, and shorts broke a window and entered the business. While inside, the suspect took several cartons of cigarettes, placed them into a bag, and left the store.

Shooting Investigation Leads To Arrest of Camden Man

Narrative: The Dover Police Department has arrested David Preston, 18, of Camden, following a shooting that occurred Monday evening. The investigation began when Dover Police were called to the 900 block of Carvel Drive for a shooting. Officers arrived and spoke to the victim who advised that she had just been shot at. Through investigative measures, Detectives were able to identify Preston as the suspect responsible for shooting a handgun at the victim. Detectives obtained warrants for Preston at this time however were unable to locate him.

On 01/17/2023 Preston turned himself in to Dover Police and was committed to SCI on $32,000 secured bail on the following charges:
-Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
-Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
-Reckless Endangering First Degree

Dover Juvenile Arrested Following Shooting Investigation

Location: Unit Block of South New Street, Dover, DE

Narrative: The Dover Police Department has arrested a 14-year-old black male, from Dover, following a shooting incident that occurred Monday afternoon. The investigation began on Monday, January 16 at 3:00 p.m., when Dover Police took the report of of a shooting in the unit block of South New Street. Upon arrival officers located shell casings confirming there had been a shooting in the area. The ensuing investigation revealed that a the 14-year-old black male from Dover and another black male juvenile fired handguns at a residence in the unit block of South New Street and the residence was occupied at the time. 

On 01/17/23 the Dover Police Department executed a search warrant on a residence in the unit block of South Governors Avenue and the 14-year-old male was taken into custody without incident. He was transported to Dover Police Department where he was processed and arraigned.

He was committed to Stevenson House Detention Center on $26,000 cash bail on the following charges:
-Possession of a Firearm By a Person Prohibited(2x)
-Reckless Endangering First Degree(10x)
-Conspiracy Second Degree
-Criminal Mischief

The second suspect is still wanted for this incident and investigators are working to locate him.
