Juvenile Arrested For Arson at YMCA

The Dover Police Department has arrested a 15-year-old, of Dover, for the arson that occurred at the YMCA, 1137 South State Street Dover, DE , on February 16, 2023. During the investigation, Detectives were able to identify the 15-year-old and obtain warrants for his arrest. On Saturday, February 18th, 2023, the 15-year-old turned himself in to Dover Police. 

He was committed to Stevenson House Juvenile Detention Center on $56,000 secured bond on the following charges:
-Arson First Degree
-Reckless Endangering First Degree (Multiple counts)
-Criminal Mischief

Narrative: The Dover Police Department is investigating an arson that occurred at the YMCA Thursday evening. The investigation began at 4:48 p.m. when Dover Police was notified of a fire at the YMCA. Officers responded and spoke to Dover Fire Department personnel who advised that someone intentionally set a fire in the bathroom which caused damage to the building. City of Dover Fire Marshal’s Office and Dover Police’s Criminal Investigations Unit are investigating.

No suspect description is being released at this time as Detectives are still reviewing surveillance.

Dover Man Injured In Shooting on Village Drive

Narrative: The Dover Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred Monday afternoon, leaving a 23-year-old Dover man injured. The investigation began when Dover Police received a call for a shooting in the unit block of Village Drive at 3:57 p.m. Officers responded and located the victim who had sustained a gun shot wound to his lower body. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment. His injuries are described as non-life threatening.

Detectives are working to obtain a suspect description at this time.

Dover Man Arrested For Third Offense DUI Following Vehicle Theft

Narrative: The Dover Police Department has arrested David Pryor, 40, of Dover, for third offense driving under the influence and theft of a motor vehicle, following a vehicle theft complaint. The investigation began on Saturday, February 18th, at 11:55 a.m., when Dover Police received a call for a stolen vehicle at Kent Liquor Mart, 103 South DuPont Highway Dover, DE. Officers responded and contacted the victim, a 43-year-old Dover man. Officers were able to review surveillance footage, which revealed the Pryor was the individual responsible for stealing the victim’s vehicle. 

At approximately 12:14 p.m. officers observed the vehicle turning onto College Road from McKee Road and attempted to stop the vehicle in the area of Kenton Road and College Road. Pryor did not initially stop and continued driving, passing numerous safe locations to pull over, and finally came to a stop in the middle of the southbound lane of Kenton Road. Once stopped, Pryor refused to exit the vehicle and had to be physically removed by officers. Officers noticed that Pryor showed signs of impairment once he was taken into custody.

Pryor was processed and arraigned at Dover Police Department.

Pryor was committed to SCI on $7,000 secured bail on the following charges:
-Theft of a Motor Vehicle
-Disregard a Police Officer’s Signal
-Third Offense DUI
-Resisting Arrest
-Driving While Suspended/Revoked
