**UPDATE**Dover Police Department Investigating Fatal Vehicle Collision Involving Officer

**UPDATE 09/11/23** – The individual involved in the motor vehicle collision with a Dover Police Officer from September 6th, 2023 has been identified as 59-year-old Loreen Miller of Dover. Sadly, Ms. Miller died on September 10th, 2023, while receiving treatment for her injuries at a New Castle County Hospital.

The officer involved in this collision is a 4-year-veteran of the Dover Police Department and is a member of the Patrol Division. Consistent with standard practice for all incidents associated with a death where an Officer is involved, the Officer has been placed on administrative leave, with pay, pending the outcome of the investigation. The Dover Police Department will continue to gather the facts of this case and requests that anyone with information contact Cpl. Narrative: The Dover Police Department is investigating a serious vehicle collision involving a Dover Police Officer and another vehicle, that left a 59-year-old female of Dover seriously injured Wednesday morning. The investigation began at 7:59 a.m., when a Dover Police Officer radioed to dispatch that they had been involved in a vehicle collision on South Little Creek Road. Several Officers responded and located the collision in the area of South Little Creek Road and Signal Street. The driver of the second vehicle, which was a 1997 Chevrolet Camaro, was trapped inside of her vehicle and Dover Fire Department responded to cut her out. Once removed from the vehicle, the 59-year-old female was airlifted to a New Castle County hospital, where she remains in critical condition for injuries related to the collision. The officer, a 4-year-veteran, was transported to an area hospital for treatment and later released with minor injuries.

The ensuing investigation revealed that the Officer was traveling westbound on South Little Creek Road in a fully marked Dover Police Vehicle approaching Signal Street. At that same time, the 59-year-old female was traveling eastbound on South Little Creek road, and was attempting to turn left onto Signal Street, which resulted in the vehicles colliding in an offset head-on manner. Both vehicles sustained disabling damage.

The Dover Police Department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit is still actively investigating this incident and any witnesses are urged to contact Cpl. Kody Frye at 302-736-7122 ext. 621.

Arrest Made in July Shooting

The Dover Police Department has arrested Daquan Watson, 29, of Dover following a shooting investigation that began in July(See original release below). Through the investigation, Watson was developed as a suspect and warrants were obtained for his arrest. On September 5th, Watson was taken into custody without incident at a residence in the unit block of Commerce Way Dover, DE by the U.S Marshal’s First State Fugitive Task Force. Watson was transported to Dover Police Department where he was processed and arraigned.

Watson was released after posting a $26,000 secured bond on the following charges:
-Reckless Endangering First Degree
-Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
-Criminal Mischief

Narrative: The Dover Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred on South Bradford Street early Sunday morning resulting in a vehicle being damaged. The investigation began at 1:27 a.m., when Officers were called to the area for shots fired. Officers responded to the scene and located a large crowd. Officers also located a vehicle that had damage consistent with being shot. No witnesses came forward during this investigation and no injuries were reported.

Narrative: The Dover Police Department is investigating a shooting that left a 34 -year-old Dover man injured early Sunday morning. The investigation began at 1:35 a.m., when officers responded to the area of South Bradford Street and West Loockerman Street in reference to gunshots being heard in the area. While on scene, the victim, a 34-year-old of Dover, arrived at Bayhealth Kent Campus in a privately owned vehicle with a gunshot wound to his lower body. Officers canvassed the area for any witnesses or suspects with negative results. There are no leads at this time.
