Narrative: The Dover Police Department arrested two suspects in connection with a shooting incident that occurred on Thursday, March 26th, 2026. Officers responded to the 100 Block of Thames Drive in The Village of Westover for several reports of shots being fired. As officers arrived they were notified that an 18-year-old male had been struck in the leg on Thames Drive. The victim was transported to Bayhealth Hospital for treatment of his non-life threatening injuries.
Officers continued to search the area and located several shell casings behind one residence and two other homes with damage from the gun fire. Both homes were occupied when they were struck. Witnesses on scene aided officers by providing descriptions of the suspects and a direction of travel, advising that they ran eastbound through a wooded path towards Mifflin Road.
Responding officers established a perimeter and requested assistance from the Delaware State Police K9 Unit in tracking the suspects. The Delaware State Police K9 tracked towards the rear of a residence in the 100 Block of Mifflin Road, leading officers to a trash can where two 9mm handguns were located. The K9 continued to track to the rear of that residence and officers contacted the resident who consented to checking the property for the suspects. Officers checking the property located the two male suspects, matching witness descriptions, in a detached shed in the yard. Both were taken into custody without incident.
The suspects were identified as Nasir Gibson (18, Wilmington) and Dimitri Marcelin (18, Dover).
Both suspects were charged with the following offenses:
-Assault 1st Degree
-Possession of Firearm During Commission of Felony (2x)
-Reckless Endangering 1st Degree (2x)
-Conspiracy 2nd Degree
-Wearing a Disguise During Commission of Felony
-Criminal Mischief Under $1000 (2x)
-Trespass 2nd Degree
Both Gibson and Marcelin were committed to SCI on $63,800 cash bonds on these offenses.
