The Dover Police Department is announcing the launch of its Enhanced Visibility Patrols, a department-wide effort aimed at reducing crime, addressing quality of life concerns, and increasing officer presence throughout the City of Dover during the summer months.
As part of the efforts, residents and visitors can expect to see an increase in police presence in areas identified through crime trends, calls for service, traffic complaints, and community concerns. These efforts will include areas such as downtown Dover, commercial retail areas, neighborhoods experiencing recurring issues, and targeted traffic enforcement locations.
The data-based initiative will utilize a variety of department resources, including the temporary reassignment of certain personnel, to support targeted patrols and enforcement efforts during the busy summer season.
The Dover Police Department continues to encourage residents and business owners to report suspicious activity, traffic concerns, disorderly behavior, and other quality of life issues as they occur. Timely reporting allows officers to respond appropriately and helps the department identify areas requiring additional attention and resources.
“Our goal is simple — maintain a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable environment throughout Dover during the summer months,” said Chief Thomas Johnson. “High visibility policing, community engagement, and proactive enforcement remain important tools in preventing crime and addressing ongoing concerns before they escalate into more serious issues.”
Citizens are reminded to report emergencies by calling 911. Non-emergency incidents and ongoing concerns can be reported through the Dover Police Department’s non-emergency number at 302-736-7111.
