Narrative: The Dover Police Department has issued a Gold Alert for Christopher Lay, 61, of Wilmington. Lay was last seen leaving Bayhealth Kent Campus, 640 South State Street, Dover, DE, at 10:04 p.m. on Tuesday and has not been seen since. Attempts to contact or locate him have been unsuccessful, and there is a concern for his safety and well-being. Lay is described as a white male, 5’11, 200 pounds. At the time, he was wearing blue hospital scrubs. If you have any information on Lay’s whereabouts, please call 302-736-7111.

Narrative: The Dover Police Department is investigating a burglary that occurred at Dragonland Smoke Shop early Wednesday morning. The investigation began at 2:13 a.m. Wednesday, when Officers were dispatched to the business for the report of a glass break alarm. Officers responded and located the front glass doors of the business shattered. The ensuing investigation revealed that two suspects broke into the business by shattering the glass doors. Once inside, the suspects removed various products and left.
The first suspect is described as a tall male, wearing a black ski-mask, black shirt, and gray sweatpants.
The second suspect is described as a short male wearing a navy blue hoodie, black shorts and white knee high socks.
This investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Dover Police Department at (302) 736-7130. Callers may remain anonymous. The Dover Police Department has arrested Eugene Johnson, 18, and a 17-year-old male, both of Dover, for the shooting that occurred on July 28th.(see full release below) Through the investigation, Detectives identified Johnson and the 17-year-old male as the suspects responsible for the shooting and obtained warrants for them. On 08/12/2024 at 8:40 a.m., the 17-year-old was taken into custody without incident. He was transported to Dover Police Department where he was arraigned. Johnson was being held at SCI on separate charges and was arraigned at the facility.
The 17-year-old was committed to Vision Quest on $5,500 secured bail on the following charges:
-Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
-Possession of a Deadly Weapon/Ammunition by a Person Prohibited (2x)
-Reckless Endangering in the First Degree (2x)
-Conspiracy in the Second Degree
-Criminal Mischief Under $1,000
Johnson remains held at SCI on the following charges:
-Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
-Possession of a Deadly Weapon/Ammunition by a Person Prohibited (2x)
-Reckless Endangering in the First Degree (2x)-
Conspiracy in the Second Degree
-Criminal Mischief Under $1,000

Narrative: The Dover Police Department is investigating a shooting that resulted in a vehicle being damaged Sunday evening. The investigation began at 6:26 p.m., when Officers made contact with the victim’s, a 16-year-old male and a 17-year-old male, both of Dover. The investigation revealed that the victim’s were in a vehicle on South Kirkwood Street when they were approached by a black male, who shot the vehicle, then fled. No injuries were reported as a result of this shooting.
There are currently no leads to release at this time.

Narrative: The Dover Police Department has arrested Eric Brown, 31, of Philadelphia on Drug and Firearm charges following an incident Wednesday night. At 11:13 p.m., members of the Dover Polcie Department’s Street Crimes Unit, in collaboration with Delaware Probation and Parole, contacted Brown in the area of South New Street and West Reed Street, as part of an illegal drug and firearm investigation. Brown was taken into custody without incident and found in possession of a loaded 9mm handgun with an extended magazine that had an obliterated serial number, 49 bags of heroin and 5 Levorphanol pills. Brown was transported to Dover Police Department where he was processed and arraigned.
Brown was committed to SCI on $82,401 cash bail on the following charges:
-Possession of a Large Capacity Magazine
-Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
-Possession of a Firearm/Ammunition by a Person Prohibited (2x)
-Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance
-Possession of a Firearm With an Obliterated Serial Number
-Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
-Possession of a Controlled Substance (2x)

Narrative: The Dover Police Department is investigating a burglary that occurred overnight Tuesday at Network Connect, 20 East Division Street. The investigation began at 11:57 a.m. Wednesday, when Officers were dispatched to the business for the report of a burglary. Officers responded and the ensuing investigation revealed that the business was left unsecured overnight, and sometime between 8:10 p.m. Tuesday and 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, an unknown suspect entered. While inside, the suspect(s) removed various items belonging to the business and left.
There are currently no leads or surveillance photos to release at this time.

Narrative:The Dover Police Department has issued a Green Alert for Joseph Carey, 28, of Dover. Carey was last seen in the area of Delaware State Police Troop 5 at approximately 11:20 a.m. on August 6th, and he has not been seen since. Attempts to contact or locate him have been unsuccessful, and there is a concern for his safety and well-being. Carey is described as a white male, 5’08”, 215 pounds. Carey was wearing a green hat, a red shirt with “Dewey” on the front, shorts and brown sandals when he was last seen. If you have any information on Carey’s whereabouts, please call 302-736-7111.
