Late Night Burglary at Spence’s Bazaar (Video Included) 7-23-14

Location: Spence’s Bazaar, 550 South New Street, Dover, DE

Narrative:
The Dover Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit is investigating a burglary at Spence’s Bazaar at 550 South New Street that occurred Monday night at approximately 11:45PM.  The crime occurred when three juvenile black males shattered the door glass to an entrance on the south side of the building.  Once inside, the suspects approached a glass case of a jewelry vendor and shattered the case with an unknown object.  The suspects removed several imitation yellow gold jewelery items, mostly men’s necklaces and bracelets.  During the burglary, the suspects first attempted to make entry by breaking a window leading into the office area and attempted to break another glass door as well, but were unsuccessful.  The suspects also damaged phone lines outside of the office area in an attempt to disable the alarm system.  The juveniles are estimated to be young teens.  Surveillance video of the incident can be viewed below.  Anyone with any information is asked to call 302-736-7111.  Callers may remain anonymous. Convicted Felon Arrest for Handgun Possession 7-22-14

Location: Saulsbury Road and Walker Road

Narrative:
A Dover man was arrested early Monday morning after he was found in possession of a firearm.  Dante Durham (25) was stopped at approximately 6:30 AM Monday morning at Saulsbury Road and Walker Road as part of an investigation into a separate incident.  During the stop, officers discovered a loaded .380 caliber handgun.  Durham is a convicted felon and is prohibited from possessing a firearm.  Durham was arrested without incident and released on $15,000 secured bond by Justice of the Peace Court 7.

Update: Woman Wanted in July 4th Knife Assault on Boyfriend Arrested 7-22-14

Update:  Charmele Seymore was arrested on July 21st at approximately 6:19PM after Dover police received an anonymous tip that she was walking in the area of North DuPont Highway and White Oak Road.  Seymore was taken into custody without incident and is being held on $180,000 cash bond at Baylor Correctional Center.

Location:  Holiday Inn, 561 North DuPont Highway, Dover, DE

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department is seeking a 29-year-old Dover resident after stabbing her ex-boyfriend on the night of July 4th, 2014.  At approximately 9:57PM, officers responded to the parking lot of the Holiday Inn located at 561 North Dupont Highway for a stabbing.  Upon arrival, officers contacted a 51-year-old male victim who had numerous slash/stab wounds to the chest and abdomen.  The victim identified Charmele Seymore as the person who assaulted him.  Seymore and the victim were involved in an argument when she displayed a knife and assaulted the victim, stealing his money, then fled the scene.  The victim was taken to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital where he is listed in stable condition after undergoing surgery for his wounds.  Seymore’s whereabouts are unknown at this time and has a warrant for her arrest.  Anyone with information on Seymore’s location should call the Dover Police Department at 302-736-7111.

Man Arrested in Burglary After Attempting to Sell Items in Parking Lot of Dover Shopping Center 7-21-14

Location: 400 Block of South Governors Avenue

Narrative:
A Dover man was arrested early Monday morning after he broke into a residence in the 400 block of South Governors Avenue.  Deon Brown (47) broke out a rear window to a residence in that area and stole several items including a laptop computer, a safe with an undisclosed amount of cash, and jewelry.  Dover police officers shortly after the burglary call by a person who observed Brown in the parking lot of Courtney Square shopping Center on South New Street, attempting to sell the items stolen from the burglary.  Police responded to the area immediately and Brown threw the items into a dumpster in an attempt to elude Dover officers.  Brown was taken into custody without incident and the majority of the items were recovered and returned back to the original owner.  Deon Brown was committed to James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in default of $3600.00 secured bond.

Two Arrested for Possession of Stolen Handgun During Sunday Morning Traffic Stop 7-21-14

Location: North DuPont Highway/Leipsic Road, Dover, Delaware

Narrative:
A Dover man and woman are under arrest for gun and marijuana charges following a Sunday morning traffic stop.  Shaquille Thomas (22) and Laura Troise (20) were stopped for speeding in the area of North DuPont Highway and Leipsic Road at approximately 9:30AM Sunday morning.  As the officer was talking to the driver, he detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.  During a search of the vehicle, the officer discovered 1.6 grams of marijuana and a .45 caliber Glock handgun.  The handgun was reported stolen to the Delaware State Police Troop 9.  Both defendants were taken into custody without incident.  Thomas was released on $13,000 unsecured bond and Troise was released on $4,000 unsecured bond by Justice of the Peace Court 7.
