Narrative:
A Dover Police Officer was injured after responding to a domestic dispute on Saturday evening. On Saturday, August 16th, at approximately 7:10PM, Dover Police responded to 56 South Governors Avenue for a reported domestic dispute between a 35 year old male and Elaina Smith (32). Upon arrival, officers learned that Smith and the victim were involved in an argument when Smith exited the victim’s vehicle and broke a passenger side window out of it. Smith then struck the victim with a closed fist, in the face. A Dover Police Officer who arrived on scene, confronted Elaina Smith in an effort to take her into custody. Smith then punched the officer in the face, possibly causing the officer to suffer a broken nose. Smith’s actions were observed by the suspects children as well. The Dover Police Officer was evaluated for his injuries at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital and released later in the evening.
