Arrest Made in Residential Burglary On Bacon Avenue 9-8-14

Incident #: 50-14-23912  Date/Time: September 7th, 2014 at approximately 8:32PM

Location: 700 Block of Bacon Avenue, Dover, DE

Narrative:
A 14-year-old was arrested for Burglary and Theft charges on Sunday evening.  Officers were called to the 700 block of bacon Avenue for a report of a burglary at a residence.  Upon arrival, officers were advised by the residents of the home that they observed a subject in their residence with the light on when they arrived home.  They then heard a door slam and saw 14-year-old Jawann Butcher running from the residence.  When asked by the residents if he was in the apartment, Butcher stated he was just knocking on the door.  It was learned shortly after that 2 XBOX games had been stolen from the residence. Butcher was stopped by police, and admitted to stealing from the residence.  It was also learned that Butcher had stolen an A/V cord from the same residence just days prior, but the incident was unreported at the time.  Butcher was charged with 2 counts of Second Degree Burglary and Theft Under $1500.00 and was released to his parents for a later court date.  Butcher’s mugshot was unavailable at the time of this release.

Police Investigate Residential Burglary on Sweetgum Drive 9-8-14

Incident #: 50-14-23890  Date/Time: September 7th, 2014 at approximately 5PM

Location: 100 Block of Sweetgum Drive

Narrative:
The Dover Police Department is investigating a residential burglary that occurred Sunday afternoon in the 100 block of Sweetgum Drive.  Police responded to the area after a neighbor reported seeing 3 black male juveniles exiting his neighbors home carrying various electronics.  The neighbor described the suspects as being between 16-18 years old and one of the suspects was carrying a black laptop with a “docking station” attached to the bottom.  It was later learned that the docking station was a cooling fan attached to the laptop.  Knowing the neighbor was not home and that the juveniles did not live at the residence, the neighbor called the police to report the suspicious activity.  Upon arrival, officer’s checked the residence and discovered an unsecured back door and checked the residence.  It is believed that the suspects entered the residence through a window after they cut the screen out.  Police were able to obtain contact information for the homeowner who later identified the following items as being stolen:

-Black Lenovo T60 Laptop Computer
-Black Ipad (8gb)
-Black HP Laptop Computer with Cooling Fan
