Dover Police Spring Jam Community Outreach Event Set for April 1st 3-24-16

In a continued effort to maintain and improve positive community relations, the Dover Police Department in collaboration with Communities in Schools of Delaware, invites the public to attend their Spring Jam event.  The event will be held at Loockerman Way Plaza on Friday, April 1st from 5:00PM-7:00PM.  The Dover Police Department will have officer on hand to engage with the community in a fun-filled environment.  Activities available include 3-on-3 basketball, Music, Bounce House, Face Painting, and a mobile gaming truck.  In addition to the activities, Simaron Pizza & Steak Shop will supply food for the event while supplies last.

The event will also mark the launch of the Dover Police Department’s Police Athletic League (P.A.L.). Officer Keith Hester will be on hand providing information and answering questions about the P.A.L. Program set to launch later this spring.

Shots Fired, Vehicle Struck on Cecil Street 3-24-16

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department is investigating an incident where eight shots were fired in the area of Cecil and New Street in Dover.  The incident occurred on Wednesday at 12:36PM when an unknown black male, wearing all black, fired at a white SUV or truck in the area.  One round struck the windshield of a Chrysler Sebring in the area.  The vehicle that is believed to have been the intended target fled the scene prior to police arrival.

Man Wanted In Robbery at Dover Inn 3-24-16

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department is seeking Wakee Loper in connection with a robbery of a 57-year-old victim at the Dover Inn on Tuesday night.  The incident occurred at 11:15PM, when Loper approached the victim and and assaulted him, then took an undisclosed amount of cash from the victim.  The victim was treated at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital for injuries to his face from the assault and was later discharged.  Loper was developed as the suspect in the assault/robbery and is wanted by the Dover Police Department for Assault 3rd Degree and Robbery 2nd Degree.

Felony DUI Arrest 3-24-16

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department arrested Edward Bradley, 65, for a felony level DUI offense on Wednesday afternoon.  At approximately 4:58PM, officers on patrol observed Bradley run a red light at the intersection of West Division Street and North New Street.  Officers conducted a traffic stop and determined that Bradley was under the influence of alcohol.  Bradley has two prior convictions for DUI and was charged with the following offenses in this incident:

-Failure To Stop at a Red Light
-Failure to Have Insurance ID

Dover Man Arrested Twice in a Week for Threats Against City of Dover Employees 3-24-16

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department arrested a Dover man for the 2nd time in less than a week for threats made against City of Dover employees.  Anthony Irvin, 43, was originally arrested on Friday, March 18th following an incident in which he became disorderly with an employee on the 2nd floor of City Hall and made verbal threats to the employee and other city officials.  Irvin left City Hall prior to police arrival.  When Dover Police Officers obtained warrants for Irvin’s arrest, they attempted to take him into custody at his residence at Lost Tree Court.  Upon seeing police arrive, Irvin went inside his residence and refused to come out for approximately 43 minutes.  Irvin eventually surrendered to police after speaking with his attorney and was charged with Terroristic Threatening and Disorderly Conduct and was later released on $1,250 unsecured bond and a no contact order with City Hall and the employee he threatened.

On Wednesday, March 23rd, the Dover Police Department received a call from a City of Dover employee stating that he was threatened by a suspect later identified as Anthony Irvin.  The city employee was traveling in a marked City of Dover vehicle in the area of Pear Street and Walker Road.  Irvin, who was also in a vehicle, pulled alongside the City of Dover vehicle and threatened the employee, stating he would come to his house and harm him and continued to shout various profanities.  Irvin was also charged with Terroristic Threatening and Disorderly Conduct in this incident and was held at JTVCC in default of $1,250 cash.

Man Wanted in Thursday Shooting 3-24-16

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department is investigating an early morning shooting that left a 24-year-old man wounded.  The incident occurred near the intersection of Boggs Drive and Nimitz Road at 12:50AM on Thursday when the 24-yer-old male victim met Jaymere Lewis (19).  The victim engaged in an argument with Lewis and during the argument, Lewis fired a single shot at the victim, striking him in the leg.  The victim  was treated at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital for the injury.

Jaymere Lewis is currently wanted by the Dover Police Department for Assault 1st Degree and Possession of a Firearm During Commission of a Felony.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the Dover Police Department at (302)736-7111.
