Narrative:

The Dover Police Department is investigating a home invasion that occurred in the 100 Block of Willis Road on Sunday night.  At approximately 10:30PM, 4-5 suspects entered a residence and threatened three occupants with handguns.  A 49-year-old male was assaulted and suffered a minor laceration to his forehead during the incident.  The suspects fled the home with an undisclosed amount of cash from the residence.  The vicitm was transported to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital for treatment of his injury.

This incident occurred prior to the 2nd Home Invasion in the same block of Willis Road.  Updated information has been added to the release that was issued prior to this incident.

Victim Shot During Home Invasion, Suspect Later Arrested 4-18-16

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department has charged a man with a home invasion that occurred on  Sunday night in the 100 Block of Willis Road.  the incident occurred at approximately 11:00PM, when the suspect (Hakeem Leonard, 24) forced his way into the home through the victim’s bedroom window.  Leonard, who was armed with a handgun, fired several shots, striking the victim in the chest once.  The victim fought with the suspect and the suspect fled the property.  The victim, a 22-year-old male, was transported to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital for medical treatment and is in stable condition.  The suspect was identified as Hakeem Leonard, who was arrested at Bayhealth Kent General after he arrived seeking treatment for his injuries sustained during the fight with the victim. Leonard was committed to JTVCC in default of $100,100 secured bond on the following charges:
-Home Invasion
-Assault 1st Degree
-Possession of a Firearm During Commission of Felony
-Criminal Mischief

Man Arrested on Drug Charged Following Foot Chase 4-18-16

Narrative:

On Friday, April 15th, officers from the Dover Police Department working with Delaware Probation and Parole officers, conducted a traffic stop in the area of Fulton and Queen Street.  The driver, Julius Johnson, immediately fled on foot from the vehicle from officers.  Officers pursued Johnson who struggled with police while being taken into custody.  During the foot chase, Johnson threw a bag containing 3.6 grams of crack cocaine.  He was also in possession of 22.6 grams of marijuana.  Further investigation by the officers discovered that Johnson had been selling crack cocaine in the area prior to the traffic stop.  As a result of the foot chase, a DE Probation and Parole Officer suffered a minor leg injury.  Johnson was committed to JTVCC in default of $32,401 secured bond on the following charges:
-Possession with intent to deliver cocaine
-Possession of drug paraphernalia
-Possession of marijuana
-Resisting arrest with force (felony)
-Assault 2nd Degree on Law Enforcement Officer
-Traffic offenses

Assault on Fulton Street 4-18-16

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department is investigating an assault that occurred early Sunday morning in the 300 Block of Fulton Street.  At approximately 2:04AM, a suspect entered the 20-year-old victim’s residence during a small gathering, uninvited.  When the victim told the suspect to leave the residence, the suspect struck the victim in the back of the head with a handgun and then fled the residence.  The victim was transported to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital for treatment of a laceration to his head.  The suspect is described as a black male, wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt and black pants.

Woman Arrested After Assaulting Adult Victim with Knife and Strangling 16-Year-Old 4-18-16

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department responded to a residence in the unit block of Heritage Drive on Sunday afternoon following an assault at the home.  Upon arrival, officers contacted a 27-year-old male who had multiple cuts to his head, face, and arms.  It was discovered that Tasha Ricks (36) cut the victim with a large kitchen knife during an argument.  During the same incident, Ricks also strangled and assaulted a 16-year-old female in the home.

Tasha Ricks was arrested without incident and released after posting $38,750 secured bond on the following charges:
-Assault 2nd Degree
-Possession of a Deadly Weapon During Commission of Felony
-Strangulation
-Endangering the Welfare of a Child (7 counts)
-Offensive Touching

Burglary at Nu Attitude Styling Salon 4-18-16

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department is investigating a burglary at a local hair salon that occurred between Saturday, April 16th at Noon and Sunday, April 17th at 8:00AM.  During that time an unknown suspect used a rock to break the glass to the front door of the business. Once inside, they removed an undisclosed amount of cash from the register and fled the area.
