Arrest Made After Bomb Threat at Dover High School. 4-20-16

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department has arrested a 16-year-old Junior from Dover High School after he made a threat to blow up the school with a bomb.  The threat was sent via text message to a fellow student, who notified school personnel.  The School Resource Officer quickly located the student (Nicholas L. Shaw) and took him into custody without incident.  At that time, the school was evacuated and officers conducted an hours long search as a precautionary measure.  The Capital School District made the decision to dismiss students at 12:30PM as a result of the situation.  The school was cleared of any dangers later in the afternoon and classes are expected to resume as scheduled on Thursday.  As a result of the incident, Shaw will be charged with Terroristic Threatening.  At this time bond information is not available.

Robbery of Pizza Delivery Driver 4-20-16

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department is investigating the robbery of a delivery driver that occurred on Tuesday night.  As a 35-year-old victim was making a pizza delivery in the area when he was approached by two black males wearing masks carrying what appeared to be a handgun.  The suspects took an undisclosed amount of cash from the driver and fled the area after the driver took the gun and broke it after it was determined it was a BB gun.

Tip Leads to Gun Arrest After Suspect Flees on Foot 4-20-16

Narrative:

Acting on a tip, Dover Police arrested Zechariah Gilbert, 22, with a handgun following a foot chase.  At approximately 8:59PM, officers responded to the Unit Block of S. New Street after receiving a tip that Gilbert was carrying a firearm.  Gilbert was described by the informant as wearing all black clothing.  As officers arrived on scene, Gilbert saw them and fled on foot.  As Gilbert fled, he threw the firearm, which was later recovered by officers.  Gilbert was committed to JTVCC on $6,500 secured bond on the following charges:
-Possession of Firearm by Person Prohibited
-Resisting Arrest
-Tampering with Physical Evidence
