Armed Robbery at 7-11 in Hamlet Shopping Center 11-26-16

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department is investigating an early morning armed robbery that occurred on Saturday.  The incident occurred when two male suspect entered the 7-11 in the Hamlet Shopping Center at approximately 1:14AM.  One suspect approached the clerk with a silver handgun while the other ran behind the counter, stealing multiple packs of cigarettes and an undisclosed amount of cash from the register.  Both suspects then fled towards the area of Ann Avenue, east of the business.  The suspects were described as black males with both wearing all black clothing and black shoes.

Man Arrested For Burglary After Breaking Into Verizon Store 11-26-16

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department arrested 34-year-old Clifton Leight Jr. after breaking into a Verizon Wireless store at 580 Bay Road in Dover.  At approximately 4:48AM, police responded to the store where Leight had broken numerous windows and gained entry.  Once inside the store, Leight damaged the phone lines in an attempt to disable the alarm and then sprayed a fire extinguisher throughout the business.  It was later learned that Leight had attempted to break into Mike’s Underground Tattoo in the same shopping center, but was unsuccessful.  Leight was charged with Burglary 3rd degree, Criminal Mischief (2x), and Trespass 3rd degree.  Bond information and mugshot was not available at time of release.

Gold Alert Issued for Missing Dover Woman 11-25-2016

The Dover Police Department has issued a Gold Alert for 20-year-old Autumn Fisher.  Fisher was last seen at Kent General Hospital where she was supposed to undergo treatment for a condition, but walked away.  There is concern for Fisher’s well being due to a condition she may have.  She is known to frequent the Downtown Dover area.

Shots Fired at New Street Apartment Building 11-23-2016

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department is investigating a shooting incident that occurred on Wednesday morning.  At approximately 10:30AM, an unknown suspect knocked on the door of a residence inside of Kent Apartments, located at 30 S. New Street.  A 54-year-old male opened the door, when the suspect displayed a handgun and asked “Where’s the Stuff?” and fired 2-3 shots into the floor of the apartment.  The suspect then fled in an unknown direction.  The suspect was only described as being a black male by the victim.  No injuries occurred as a result of the gunfire.

Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest 11-23-16

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department Street Crimes Unit arrested 25-year-old Ronald Suber on drug-related charges following a traffic stop on Tuesday afternoon.  At approximately 3:13PM, officers stopped Suber while he was driving in the area of North Governors Avenue at Walker Road for a traffic violation.  Further investigation led to the discovery of crack cocaine, oxycodone, and xanax possessed by Suber.  Suber was released on $1,275 unsecured bond on the following charges:
-Possession of Crack Cocaine
-Possession of XANAX
-Possession of Oxycodone (2x)
-Drug Paraphernalia
-Traffic Offenses

ATF and Firearms Industry Offer $10,000 Reward In Firearms Theft

Seeking Public’s Help in Firearms Theft from a Business.

DOVER, Del. – The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the trade association for the firearms industry, have announced a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the theft of firearms from Capital Pawn Shop, a federal firearm licensee (FFL), located at 324 Martin Street, Dover, DE.  ATF is offering a reward of up to $5,000, which will be matched by the NSSF for a total reward of up to $10,000.  This crime is being investigated by the City of Dover Police Department and the ATF.         

This reward is part of a larger national cooperative initiative between the NSSF and ATF in which NSSF matches ATF rewards in cases involving the theft of firearms from federally licensed firearms retailers.  “ATF is working closely with members of the firearms industry to curb the criminal acquisition of firearms and is dedicated to assisting and protecting our industry partners as well as the community from those who seek to illegally obtain firearms,” said Daniel L. Board Jr., Special Agent in Charge for the ATF Baltimore Field Division.  “The ATF, along with the City of Dover Police Department and our other law enforcement partners, are committed to ensuring that our communities are safe and that those who violate federal firearm laws are held accountable.”

The Dover Police Department is investigating a late night burglary at a Dover pawn shop, where multiple items, including jewelry and numerous handguns and rifles were stolen.  The preliminary investigation has shown that the suspects cut a hole into the aluminum siding of the Capital Pawn Shop located at 324 Martin Street, to gain access to the business.  Once inside, they stole various jewelry items and several handguns and rifles.  The Dover Police Department is actively working with the Capital Pawn Shop and the ATF in this investigation and to determine the number and types of weapons stolen in this incident.

Drug Arrest at Relax Inn 11-22-16

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department arrested 29-year-old Erick Wyatte on numerous drug related charges on Monday afternoon. Wyatte, who was also wanted on domestic related charges by the Dover Police Department, was the subject of a drug investigation at the Relax Inn at 640 S. DuPont Highway in Dover.  Officers located 44 grams of crack cocaine in the room that Wyatte was staying in, as well as drug paraphernalia, and $1,706.00 in drug proceeds.  An additional 8 grams of crack cocaine was found on Wyatte’s person for a total weight of 52 grams.  Wyatte was committed to JTVCC in default of $62,500 secured bond on the following charges:
-Possession with Intent to Deliver Crack Cocaine
-Possession of Crack Cocaine
-Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
-Possession of Marijuana
-Tampering with Physical Evidence
-Resisting Arrest
-Assault 3rd Degree (Domestic Related Warrant)
