UPDATE: Three Arrested, One Sought in Connection with Pine Grove Apartments Murder 6-30-17

UPDATE:  The Dover Police Department has arrested three people and are seeking a fourth in connection with the shooting death of Dequan Dukes on Tuesday night at Pine Grove Apartments. During the investigation, it was discovered that Brett Scott, Gregory Sellers, Lisa Wagaman, and Raymond Ward conspired to rob Dukes at Pine Grove Apartments.  During the incident Dukes and Scott exchanged gunfire, resulting in Duke’s death and Scott being shot multiple times.  Gregory Sellers transported Scott to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital for his injuries shortly after the incident.  Further investigation led to the identification as Sellers, Wagaman, and Ward as participants in the robbery plan.

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department is investigating a shooting that killed a 21-year-old man and left a 25-year-old with serious injuries on Tuesday night.  At approximately 8:48PM, officers responded to Pine Grove Apartments for reports of shots being fired.  Officers arrived and located the 21-year-old Dequan Dukes seated inside of a vehicle that was located between D and E buildings.  Dukes appeared to have been shot at least once in the upper body and was transported to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.  During this time, the second victim arrived at the hospital with multiple gun shot wounds.  The 25-year-old man is currently being treated for his injuries.  The case remains under investigation at this time.

Arrest Made in 7-11 Robbery 6-28-17

Update:

Jarel Williams (25) of Dover was arrested for the June 25th robbery of the 7-11 in the Hamlet Shopping Center following a joint investigation by Dover and Delaware State Police.  Williams was taken into custody at his Alder Road residence without incident by the Dover Police Department.  After taking Williams into custody, a search warrant was conducted at his residence and detectives located some of the clothing he wore during the commission of the crimes, in particular, a white hooded sweatshirt that had the words; REHO-BOTH-BEACH printed on the front.  This sweatshirt was worn by Williams during one of the burglaries and in two of the robberies.  A search warrant was also conducted on a vehicle in which Williams was seen operating just prior to his arrest and during the search, a 12 gauge shotgun was recovered.  A computer inquiry revealed the shotgun has been reported stolen from a residence in Frederica on June 13, 2017.  Williams was identified as the suspect in the 7-11 robbery as well as numerous other robberies and burglaries in Delaware State Police jurisdiction (see link below).  Williams was committed to JTVCC in default of $467,750 cash bond on all charges.

The Dover Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that occurred on Sunday morning at 7-11 in the Hamlet Shopping Center.  The incident occurred at 2:53AM, when a white male and black male suspect entered the business with a long barrel pump-action shotgun and removed Newport cigarettes and an undisclosed amount of cash.  The black male suspect demanded the items while the white male acted as a lookout at the door.  Both suspects fled the area on foot after the incident.  The white male was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt with a bandanna and white gloves.  The black male suspect was wearing a light gray hooded sweatshirt with a bandanna and black gloves.

Dover Police Training Exercise at Dover High School 6-27-17

The Dover Police Department will be hosting a training exercise on Thursday, June 29th, from 8:00am-12:00pm at the Dover High School.  Due to the training exercise, there will be a heavy presence of emergency vehicles, equipment, and personnel in the area during that time.  The exercise is contained to the grounds of the Dover High School, so there should be no traffic delays or other disturbances to the surrounding area.

Drug Investigation Leads to Arrest, Gun Seizure 6-22-17

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department arrested 38-year-old Ricky DeShields after concluding a drug investigation by executing a search warrant at his residence in the 800 Block of River Road on Tuesday morning.  During the search, officers located 2 handguns (9mm/.40 cal), 58.4 grams of marijuana, digital scales/packing materials, .9 grams of mushrooms, 2 doses of bath salts, and $4,490 in suspected drug proceeds.

DeShield was charged with the following offenses (bond not available at time of release):

Ricky DeShields
