Narrative:

The Dover Police Department is investigating a shooting that left a 32-year-old man injured on Thursday morning.  At approximately 3:42AM, officers responded to the first block of North New Street for a shots fired report.  A short time later, officers were notified that the male victim drove to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital Emergency Department with two gunshot wounds to the abdomen.  The victim underwent surgery and is in stable condition.  The suspect was described as a black male, wearing all black clothing.

UPDATE:

The Dover Police Department has charged Jahmelle Taylor (25) with the shooting that left a 32-year-old man wounded on Thursday morning.  Taylor was arrested on Friday, September 15th at 6:36PM by the Dover Police Department and the US Marshal’s Delaware Fugitive Task Force.  Taylor was contacted on South Governors Avenue, and fled on foot from the officers.  After a brief foot pursuit, Taylor was taken into custody without incident.  Taylor was charged with the following offenses:
-Possession of Firearm During Commission of Felony
-Possession of Firearm by Person Prohibited
-Resisting Arrest
-Criminal Mischief
-Assault 1st Degree
-Reckless Endangering
-Violation of Probation

Bond information was not available at the time of release.
