Armed Robbery at Rite-Aid 3-12-2018

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that left a store employee wounded.  At approximately 4:39AM, an unknown black male suspect was observed shoplifting by a Rite-Aid employee (Age 45).  When the employee confronted the suspect, the suspect pulled a knife from his jacket and approached the victim, cutting him on his left arm.  The victim then grabbed the suspect and struggled with him to the floor, but the suspect was able to flee.  The suspect was seen fleeing in a white Nissan Pathfinder being operated by a white female.

Arrest Made After Driver Pulls Gun During Road Rage Incident 3-12-2018

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department has arrested 51-year-old Gerald Bonanni on firearms charges following a road rage incident.  The incident began when the 37-year-old male victim was driving northbound on S. DuPont Highway, approaching Lotus Street.  At that time, a white Chevrolet Silverado truck being operated by Bonanni pulled out directly in front of the victim, causing him to suddenly brake.  As the vehicles then traveled next to each other, Bonanni extended his middle finger to the victim.  When the two vehicles approached a red light at the Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd intersection, both drivers engaged in a verbal argument about the incident.  As the vehicles began to travel, Bonanni displayed a handgun in the direction of the victim.  The victim then notified the Dover Police Department and provided details on the location of Bonanni.  Officers located Bonanni and his vehicle in the parking lot of Kohl’s (299 N. DuPont Highway) and took him into custody without incident.  Officers then located a loaded 9mm handgun inside of the truck.

Bonanni was released after posting $33,000 secured bond on the following charges:
-Possession of a Firearm During Commission of Felony
-Aggravated Menacing

Two Homes Struck by Gunfire in Manchester Square Neighborhood 3-12-2018

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department is investigating a shooting incident that occurred on Sunday morning in the Manchester Square neighborhood.  At approximately 4:02AM, officers responded to the ares for a report of shots fired.  It was learned that two houses in the neighborhood were struck while occupied, a combined three times.  No injuries occurred at either residence.  Several shell casings were located from the area of White Oak Road and Stevenson Drive.  Witnesses reported seeing a light-colored sedan fleeing westbound on White Oak Road after the shooting.

Man Arrested on Firearms Charges at Dover Mall 3-12-2018

Narrative: 

On Saturday, March 10th, Dover Police officers responded to the Dover Mall in response to a report of a suspect carrying a handgun at approximately 5:03PM.  Upon arrival, officers observed a silver Buick LeSabre matching a description provided in the call.  Officers checked the vehicle, but it was unoccupied.  Officers then canvassed the interior  of the mall, searching for the suspect.  During that time, officers observed Jawan Custis with another male subject walking through he food court area and exiting in the lot where their vehicle was parked.  Officers observed Custis and the other subject walking between vehicles and noticed that Custis quickly squatted down between two vehicles.  Custis then removed a handgun from his pants and hid it under a vehicle.  Officers quickly approached Custis and took him into custody without incident.  Upon checking underneath the vehicle where Custis squatted, officers located a loaded .380 handgun.  During the investigation, it was also determined that Custis was under the influence of alcohol and had been driving the Buick LeSabre.  

Custis was committed to JTVCC in default of $8,800 secured bond on the following charges:
-Possession of a Firearm While Under the Influence
-DUI
-Possession of a Firearm/Ammo by Person Prohibited (2x)
-Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
-Breach of Release Bond Conditions

Dover Man Arrested After Firing Gun During Domestic Incident 3-12-2018

Narrative:  

The Dover Police Department arrested William Caldwell (29) following a domestic related incident on Saturday morning.  At approximately 12:47AM, officers on patrol heard what sounded like gunshots in the downtown area.  A search at that time was conducted with no results.  Approximately one hour later, a 30-year-old female responded to the Dover Police Department to report that William Caldwell had fired the shots.   The victim advised officers that Caldwell was an ex-boyfriend and that he had entered here home in the unit block of S. New Street unannounced and uninvited.  While inside, the victim confronted Caldwell for being in her home.  During the altercation, Caldwell pointed a handgun at the victim.  Caldwell then exited the home and fired two shots in the air and once again pointed the gun at the victim.  Caldwell then fled in a silver Mitsubishi Galant.  Officers reviewed downtown surveillance cameras which partially captured the incident.  A warrant was obtained for Caldwell and officers took him into custody at his residence at 773 Slaughter Street in Dover. 

Caldwell was committed to JTVCC in default of $47,001 secured bond on the following charges:
-Possession of Firearm During Commission of Felony
-Possession of Firearm by Person Prohibited
-Criminal Trespass 2nd Degree
-Endangering the Welfare of a Child
-Disorderly Conduct
-Aggravated Menacing

Armed Robbery on S. New Street 3-12-2018

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department is investigating a robbery that occurred on Friday evening in front of New Hope Housing at 30 S. New Street.  The incident occurred when a 42-year old male victim was riding his bicycle  from work and stopped to talk to the unknown suspect.  The suspect asked for a cigarette and when the victim pulled a pack out of his pants, the suspect displayed a handgun and demanded the victim’s belongings.  The suspect fled with cash, the victim’s backpack, and bicycle.  The victim could only identify the suspect as being a light-skinned black male, 6’2″, 230 pounds, afro style hair, burgundy fleece jacket and blue jeans.
