Narrative:
The Dover Police Department has arrested 51-year-old Gerald Bonanni on firearms charges following a road rage incident. The incident began when the 37-year-old male victim was driving northbound on S. DuPont Highway, approaching Lotus Street. At that time, a white Chevrolet Silverado truck being operated by Bonanni pulled out directly in front of the victim, causing him to suddenly brake. As the vehicles then traveled next to each other, Bonanni extended his middle finger to the victim. When the two vehicles approached a red light at the Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd intersection, both drivers engaged in a verbal argument about the incident. As the vehicles began to travel, Bonanni displayed a handgun in the direction of the victim. The victim then notified the Dover Police Department and provided details on the location of Bonanni. Officers located Bonanni and his vehicle in the parking lot of Kohl’s (299 N. DuPont Highway) and took him into custody without incident. Officers then located a loaded 9mm handgun inside of the truck.
Bonanni was released after posting $33,000 secured bond on the following charges:
