Suspect Wanted in Liberty Court Homicide 6-29-2018

UPDATE:

The Dover Police Department has identified Timothy Safford (42) as the suspect in the shooting death of Sylvester Lee at Liberty Court Apartments on Friday, June 22nd.  During the investigation, detectives learned that Safford and Lee were involved in a verbal argument prior to the shooting.  While both men walked towards the victim’s vehicle, Safford shot Lee, ultimately causing his death. 

Safford is wanted for 1st Degree Murder, Possession of a Firearm During Commission of Felony,  Possession of Firearm/Ammunition by Person Prohibited (2x).  

Safford should be considered armed and dangerous.  Anyone with knowledge of Safford’s whereabouts should call 911 or their local police department immediately.  Safford’s last known address is in Dover, DE but is no longer accurate.

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department is investigating the shooting death of a 41-year-old man that occurred on Friday night.  At approximately 9:41PM, officers from the Dover Police Department responded to Liberty Court Apartments for reports of a shooting.  Upon arrival, officers located Sylvester Lee (Clayton, DE), lying on the ground after being struck multiple times by gunfire in the torso.  Lee was transported to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries at approximately 10:15PM.

Dover Police Make Arrest in Three Walgreen’s Robberies 6-28-2018

 

The Dover Police Department is announcing the arrest of Nathaniel Carr (22), of Washington, D.C., in three robberies of Dover Walgreen’s stores.  Following the March 29th robbery where Carr and another suspect jumped the pharmacy counter and took prescription medication, detectives were able to obtain fingerprints from the crime scene.  Those fingerprints led to the identification of Carr as a suspect.  Detectives were then able to link Carr to two additional Walgreen’s robberies that took place on February 27th, 2018 and December 24th, 2017.  Carr was arrested in Washington D.C. on June 22nd, 2018 and extradited to Delaware on June 27th.  Carr was committed to JTVCC in default of $18,600 cash bond on the following charges:
-Robbery 2nd Degree (3x)
-Conspiracy 2nd Degree
-Wearing a Disguise During Commission of Felony
-Offensive Touching

Residential Burglary Dover East Estates MHP 6-27-18

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department is investigating a residential burglary that occurred on Tuesday, June 26th.  The incident occurred when  an unknown suspect(s) entered the vacant home through a rear window.  Once inside, the suspect removed two televisions and fled in an unknown direction.

Dover Man Arrested on Drug Charges Following Investigation 6-25-2018

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department and Delaware Probation and Parole arrested Marvin Hardy (41), following a drug investigation.  A search warrant was executed at Hardy’s home in the 100 Block of S/W Kings Highway following a drug investigation.  Hardy was taken into custody without incident.  During the search warrant, officers located 216.3 grams of marijuana.  Hardy was released on $8,250 unsecured bond on the following offenses:
-Possession with Intent to Deliver Marijuana
-Drug Paraphernalia
-Possession of Marijuana (Tier 1 Qty)

Dover P.A.L. Announces Five Summer Events 6-25-18

The Dover Police Athletic League (P.A.L.) is announcing five additional events for the summer of 2018.  Four of the events are part of the “drop-in” series scheduled at various locations throughout the City of Dover to educate families about P.A.L. opportunities while engaging with officers and members of the community in athletic and educational activities for all ages.  The fifth event is the single-day Football Combine event on July 28th, 2018 at Delaware State University.  For more information on these events, please read below.

P.A.L. Football Combine

The Dover Police Department Police Athletic League (P.A.L.) has partnered with the Delaware State University and the Delaware State University Police Department to put on a one day football combine to be held at the university’s athletic complex. 

The one-day program is scheduled for  Saturday, July 28th, 2018 from 8 AM-NOON.  Snacks, Gatorade, and water will be provided courtesy of event sponsors Sam’s Club and The Home Depot.  The program is open to 5th-8th grade students of all skill levels.  There will be multiple skills competitions with prizes awarded.  

REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.  A maximum of 50 participants will be accepted.  All participants must complete a liability waiver and a P.A.L. registration form in addition to the event registration.  Event registration can be found here:  P.A.L. Football Combine

Athletic attire must be worn.  Football cleats are not required but are highly recommended.  There is no rain date for this event and transportation is not provided.

Registration for “A Day In Their Boots” Event is Closed 6-21-2018

UPDATE:  Registration for the “Day in Their Boots” event is now closed.  The event quickly gained popularity, reaching its maximum number of 150 participants in less than 24 hours.  Please keep checking doverpolice.org/PAL for more events coming up in the near future.  Thank you for making this event such an overwhelming success, so quickly. 

 

 

Learn what it takes to be a firefighter in Delaware and the challenges they face by joining the Dover Police Athletic League on Wednesday, July 11th from 9am-2pm at the Delaware State Fire School.  This program is being hosted by the Delaware State Fire School, Dover Police P.A.L., and the Dover Fire Department.  There is no cost to attend, but children ages 5-10 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.  Lunch will be provided to all participants by event sponsor North Dover Chick-Fil-A.  A minimum of 30 participants is required for this program to take place.  Registration form can be found at the link below.  Parents/Guardians will have to sign a liability waiver after registration.
