Arrest Made of Suspect Who Fled From Police Three Times in Three Days 8-19-2019

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department arrested Justin Llera on Saturday morning after he fled from officers for the 3rd time in a 3-day span.  The original incident occurred on August 15th at approximately 2:13AM when officers attempted to stop a green Kia Rio being operated by Llera for expired tags in the downtown area.  The vehicle fled from officers and was observed committing several traffic violations.  Officers then located the vehicle in a parking lot in the 800 Block of Silver Lake Blvd and an officer demanded Llera to exit the vehicle.  Llera then fled at a high rate of speed, jumping a curb and leaving the area.

On August 17th at approximately 2:44AM, officers observed the same vehicle and determined that Llera was wanted from the August 15th incident.  Officers attempted to stop the vehicle in the area of S. State Street at Wyoming Avenue.  The vehicle fled, committing numerous traffic violations.  Officers discontinued the pursuit in the area of S. DuPont Highway at Webbs Lane due to road conditions and safety concerns for the general public and the officers.  Warrants were once again obtained for Llera for this incident.

On August 17th at approximately 8:27AM, officers once again observed Llera operating the same vehicle in the area of North New Street and Cecil Street.  Llera once again fled from police and ended the pursuit in the area of S. DuPont Highway at Lotus Street.  Llera exited the vehicle and fled on foot but was apprehended by K9 Reeko and Dover Police officers.  Llera struggled with officers during the arrest, causing one officer to suffer a an injury to his hand which requires further medical attention.  Llera was taken to Kent General Hospital for treatment of his injuries from the K9 apprehension and released to police custody.

Llera was committed to SCI in default of $22,200 cash bond on charges stemming from all three incidents, including:
-Disregard Police Signal (3x)
-Assault 2nd (Law Enforcement Victim)
-Resisting Arrest with Force/Violence (Felony)
-Resisting Arrest (2x)
-Drug Paraphernalia
-Reckless Driving (3x)
-DUI (3rd incident)
-Trespassing 3rd Degree
-50 Traffic Violations from all three incidents combined

Arrest Made in Dover Auto Body Burglaries 8-19-2019

UPDATE:

The Dover Police Department and Delaware State Police have made an arrests in three burglaries that occurred at Dover Auto Body.  DeShawn Carroll was developed as a suspect and taken into custody on Friday, August 16th without incident at his place of employment in Dover, DE.  Carroll was committed to SCI in default of $6,700 secured bond on the following charges from the Dover Police Department:
-3rd Degree Burglary (2x)
-Theft/Attempted Theft (2x)
-Criminal Mischief (2x)

NOTE:  In prior releases, the Dover Auto Body business was referred to as Delaware Auto Body by mistake.  The Delaware State Police investigated a burglary at the same business, believing the business was not in Dover Police jurisdiction.  The Delaware State Police also charged Carroll in that incident.

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department is investigating a burglary that occurred at Delaware Auto Body on Bay Road.  The incident occurred sometime between 6:30PM on Sunday, August 11th, and 8:10AM on Monday, August 12th.  During that period, an unknown suspect entered the business by forced entry through a rear window.  Once inside, the suspect removed several items from inside and fled in an unknown direction.

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department is investigating a burglary that occurred at Delaware Auto Body on Bay Road.  The incident occurred at approximately 12:32AM when the owner received an alert on his cell phone.  When he drove to the business to check, a black male suspect fled from the business into the Capital Park neighborhood.  The suspect had forced entry into the business through a set of doors and rummaged through items in the business before fleeing.  

Dover Man Arrested for 7th Offense DUI 8-19-2019

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department arrested Edward Prettyman (60) on a 7th offense DUI charge following a motor vehicle accident.  During the investigation, officers detected an odor of alcohol coming from Prettyman.  Prettyman refused to comply with several Field Sobriety Tests at the scene.  Officers were forced to get a search warrant for a blood draw.  Once the blood draw was completed at a nearby hospital, Prettyman was charged with the 7th offense DUI and committed to SCI in default of $20,000 Secured bond.

Shots Fired in Simon Circle 8-19-2019

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department is investigating an incident where several shots were fired in the Simon Circle area. At approximately 9:54PM on Sunday, August 18th, officers responded to the area for shots fired.  It was discovered that at least six shots were fired in the 300 Block of Simon Circle.  One round struck and damaged the front doors to a home in the 200 Block of Simon Circle.  No injuries occurred as a result of this incident.
