Three New York Men Charged After Stealing $73k in Apple Products from Target 11-27-2019

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department charged three men from Brooklyn, New York in a shoplifting case where $73,893 in Apple products were stolen from a Dover Target store.  At approximately 9:35PM on Monday, November 25th, 2019, the three men broke into a secured case and took a variety of Apple electronics and fled.  The suspects attempted a similar attempt at the Christiana Target store after the Dover incident,  but were unsuccessful.  Loss prevention employees were able to obtain a description of the vehicle at the time and pass it on to regional Target stores.  

Shorty after the Christiana attempt, troopers with the Delaware State Police observed the suspects and suspect vehicle in the parking lot of the Brandywine, DE Target store.  The troopers searched the suspect vehicle and located all of the stolen Apple products from th Dover incident.  

All three suspects were committed to SCI on $3,500 secured bonds on the following offenses:
-Organized Retail Crime
-Possession of Shoplifters Tools
-Conspiracy 2nd Degree

The suspects, all from Brooklyn, NY, were identified as:
Jonathan Vinas (28)
Gilberto Cortez (43)
Joey Lattimore (34)

Burglary at The Little School at Kids Cottage 11-26-2019

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department is investigating a burglary that occurred at the Little School at Kids Cottage.  Between Monday, November 25th at 6:00PM and Tuesday, November 26th at 6:40AM, an unknown suspect(s) entered the building by breaking an exterior window.  Once inside, the suspect(s) stole a cash register insert with an undisclosed amount of cash inside.  The suspect then fled in an unknown direction.

Gunshots Strike Home on Roberta Avenue 11-26-2019

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department is investigating an incident where a home was struck by gunfire on Tuesday morning.  At approximately 4:38AM, officers responded to the 500 Block of Roberta Avenue for a report of multiple shots fired.  Upon arrival, officers located several shell casings on the roadway and found that a home in the 500 Block of Roberta Avenue had been struck multiple times.  While the home was occupied by several people, no injuries occurred.

Two Suspect Arrested in String of Church and Residential Burglaries 11-25-2019

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department has arrested two subjects in a string of burglaries in the Dover area.  On October 15th, 2019, officers investigated a burglary that occurred on N. American Avenue, where the suspects forced entry into the residence and stole jewelry an other high-value items. 

On November 8th, 2018, a burglary was reported at the Calvary Baptist Church at 410 Fulton Street.  In this incident, the suspects gained entry by removing  window air condition unit and then stole a desktop computer.

On November 19th, 2019, a burglary was once again reported at the Calvary Baptist Church at 410 Fulton Street.  In this incident, the suspect broke a glass window and then stole several computers from the building before fleeing.

On November 20th, 2019, a burglary was reported at a residence in the 200 Block of North State Street where an iPad was stolen.

During the investigation into the above incidents, Tywon Mack (25) was identified as a suspect and warrants were obtained.  

On November 21st, 2019, a burglary was reported at Mount Zion Church, located at 101 North Queen Street.  The suspect broke a basement window to gain entry and then rummaged through various parts of the building.  It was unknown if anything was stolen at the time.

On November 22nd, Mount Zion Church was burglarized once again.  The suspect broke a window to gain entry and then ransacked the building and attempted to pry open two safes inside the church before fleeing.

The Bethuel Seventh Day Adventist Church located at 25 N. Queen Street reported an attempted burglary on November 22nd, where the suspect broke a window to the church.  It did not appear that the suspect(s) made entry or took anything in this incident.

On Friday, November 23rd, a Dover Police patrol officer was checking the area of North West Street, when they observed  a broken window at the Mt. Carmel Church at 117 North West Street and that the lights were on inside.  Officers set up a perimeter and successfully apprehended Tywon Mack and Vincent Green (19) inside of the church.  A Dover police K9 assisted in the apprehensions.  

Tywon Mack was committed to SCI on a $27,750 secured bond on the following charges:

UPDATE: The Gold Alert for Johnathan Norwig has been cancelled after he was brought in to the Dover Police Department by his family on Saturday afternoon.

The Dover Police Department has issued a gold alert for a missing 74-year-old man.  Johnathan Norwig was last seen leaving  medical appointment in the 1000 Block of South State Street when he failed to tell an accompanying family member he was leaving.  Norwig is a white male, 5′ tall, 165 pounds, and was last seen wearing blue jeans and a dark jacket.  He was operating a white Chevrolet Astro van with Maryland tags (59134CA).  There is concern for Norwig’s safety as he suffers from dementia.

Burglary at Lana Nails 11-22-2019

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department is investigating a burglary that occurred on Thursday, November 21st, 2019 at Lana Nails (155 N. DuPont Highway).  At approximately 11:01PM, officers responded to the business for a burglary alarm.  Surveillance footage (unavailable for release) showed that a white male suspect broke a rear glass door to the business and removed the contents inside of a register before fleeing.  The suspect was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and camouflage colored pants.
