Burglary Suspect Arrested After Leaving Shoes at Scene 1-31-2020

Narrative: 

On Friday, January 31st, at approximately 4:01AM, officers responded to a residence in the 900 Block of Buck Drive in reference to a burglary.  The female resident stated that while she was sleeping, she was woken by her dog growling.  The resident observed a black male, wearing dark clothing, inside of her residence who then fled.  The victim advised that an undisclosed amount of cash in specific denominations was stolen from the home.  Responding officers also observed that the suspect had gained entry through an unsecured window by removing the window screen.  The suspect left his shoes and a hammer outside of the window, next to a ladder he used to gain entry.  A short time after the initial response, officers observed Eternal Heredia (25) walking in the area while wearing dark clothing and with no shoes on, despite the cold temperatures.  Heredia was found to be wanted on Kent County Court of Common Pleas Capias’ and was taken into custody.  Heredia was searched and found to be in possession of the exact amount of money in the same denominations that was stolen from the residence.  

Heredia was released on an unsecured bond on the following charges:
-Burglary 1st Degree
-Possession of Burglar Tools
-Theft Under $1,500
-Drug Paraphernalia

Dover Police Charge Man in Ten Previously Unsolved Commercial Burglaries 1-30-2020

The Dover Police Department has charged Samuel Curtis (56) in ten unsolved commercial burglaries.  Curtis was arrested by the Delaware State Police for a burglary at the Bavarian Bakery on January 24th, 2020.  As a result of that arrest, Dover Police detectives were able to obtain further information that led to Curtis being charged, including comparisons of surveillance images from some of the incidents to Samuel Curtis.

Curtis was committed to SCI on a $22,000 secured bond on the following charges:
-Burglary 3rd Degree (10x)
-Theft (10x)
-Criminal Mischief (10x)
-Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of Felony (4x)

Man Wanted After Firing Gun in Apartment Building 1-30-2020

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department is seeking Xavier Marion (22) on firearms related charges after he discharged a gun into the floor of his apartment.  The round traveled through the ceiling of the apartment below and struck a wall while a male victim was nearby.  Marion then fled with the firearm.  

Xavier Marion is wanted on the following offenses:
-Reckless Endangering 1st Degree
-Possession of Firearm by Person Prohibited
-Criminal Mischief

Home Shot on Sussex Avenue 1-30-2020

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit is investigating a shooting incident that damaged a home on Wednesday night.  At approximately 10:22PM, officers responded to a residence in the 400 Block of Sussex Avenue after being notified that a window to the home was shattered.  Upon arrival, officers were able to determine that the home was struck by a single round and located one shell casing in the roadway in front of the home.  The home was occupied by three people at the time of the incident with no injuries occurring.

1,301 Bags of Heroin/Firearm Seized During Search Warrant in Clearview Meadows 1-29-2020

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department and Delaware Probation and Parole executed a search warrant at a home in the 200 Block of Nob Hill Road on Tuesday evening.  At approximately 9:25PM, officers took Shyder Davis (27) into custody as he was exiting the residence, prior to the search warrant.  During the search of the home, officers located 1,301 bags of heroin, 22.9 grams of marijuana, and  loaded 9mm handgun.  

Merrick Wright (28) was also taken into custody and found in possession of 8 doses of MDMA and also had multiple capias’ for his arrests.  

Krysta Johnson (24) was issued a civil violation for Possession of Marijuana and released.

Shyder Davis was committed to SCI on a $97,100 cash bond on the following charges:
-Possession with Intent to Deliver Heroin
-Possession with Intent to Deliver Marijuana
-Possession of Firearm During Commission of Felony
-Possession of Firearm by Person Prohibited (3x)
-Possession of Heroin
-Drug Paraphernalia

Traffic Violation Leads to DUI an Firearms Charges 1-29-2020

Narrative: 

A 60-year-old Dover man was charged with DUI and firearms offenses following a traffic stop on Wednesday morning.  At approximately 2:31AM, a Dover Police Officer stopped Craig Banks for a traffic violation while traveling southbound on Saulsbury Road in the area of Forrest Avenue.  During the stop, it was determined that Banks was under the influence of alcohol.  A .32 caliber handgun was found in his possession at the time of the DUI investigation.  Banks was prohibited from being in possession of a firearm due to his intoxication and previous criminal offenses.  

Banks was committed to SCI on a $21,350 secured bond on the following offenses:
-Driving Under the Influence
-Carry Concealed Deadly Weapon
-Possession of Firearm/Ammo by Person Prohibited (2x)

Dover Police Respond to Dog Attack on Child

Location:  Sheldrake Circle (Cannon Mills), Dover, DE

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department responded to an emergency call of a child being attacked by three dogs on Tuesday afternoon. Officers arrived and located a severely injured 12-year-old boy while the dogs remained at large in the area. A Dover officer fired shots at the dogs due to their continued aggressive behavior but did not strike them. Additional officers and Dover Animal Control arrived on scene to assist with keeping the victim and medical personnel safe so the child could be removed from the scene and transported to the hospital. The three dogs continued to remain at large until officers located them and were forced to use their service weapons to neutralize them due to their continued aggression.

The child suffered severe injuries and was transported to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital for treatment. While the child’s injuries have been determined to not be life-threatening, the child is being transported to A.I. DuPont Children’s Hospital for further treatment due to severity of his wounds.

The dogs (two Cane Corsos and one undetermined possible mixed breed) belonged to a family member of the child victim. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
