Dover Man Arrested Following Attempted Robbery at Royal Farms

Narrative: The Dover Police Department has arrested Kareem Young, 29, of Dover, on attempted robbery charges following an altercation at Royal Farms early Thursday morning. The investigation began when officers were dispatched to Royal Farms for a theft. Upon arrival, Young was being actively held down by employees of the business. Young was taken into custody by Dover Police without incident. The ensuing investigation revealed that Young entered the store wearing a black ski mask and immediately went behind the counter and removed several packages of cigarettes. Young was confronted by staff, at which time he fought with them, causing a laceration to one of the employees. Further investigation revealed that Young has been banned from Royal Farms due to previous cigarette thefts. Young was transported to Dover Police Department where he was processed and arraigned.

Young was committed to SCI on $34,050 secured bail on the following charges:
-Attempted Robbery First Degree
-Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony
-Assault Third Degree
-Criminal Trespass Third Degree

Shooting on Schoolhouse Lane

Narrative: The Dover Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred on Schoolhouse Lane Wednesday evening. The investigation began when the victim, a 47-year-old female of Dover, arrived at Bayhealth Kent Campus with a gunshot wound to her lower body. The ensuing investigation revealed that the victim was walking her dog on Schoolhouse Lane when unknown subjects began arguing in the area. The victim then heard several gun shots and was shot. The victim was transported to Bayhealth by a privately owned vehicle for treatment. There are currently no leads or suspect description.

Arson Investigation on Saulsbury Road

Narrative: The Dover Police Department is investigating an arson that occurred Friday evening. The investigation began at 9:21 p.m., when Dover Police and Dover Fire Department responded to Brookedale, 150 Saulsbury Road, for the report of two vehicles on fire. Responding units were advised by witnesses that a suspect was observed running from the area prior to the fire igniting. Through the investigation, Detectives and the Dover Fire Marshal’s office were able to determine that this fire was an arson. A photograph of the suspect has  been included at the bottom of this release. If you can identify the suspect, tips may be submitted by one of the methods listed below.

Arson Suspect

Burglary at NAPA Auto

Narrative: The Dover Police Department is investigating a burglary that occurred early Sunday morning at Napa Auto Parts.  The investigation began at approximately 1:30 a.m. Sunday, when Dover Police received a call for a burglary alarm at the business. Officers responded and the ensuing investigation revealed that the suspect entered the building by damaging a window. Once inside, the suspect removed an undisclosed amount of money and left the store prior to officer’s arrival. The suspect is described as a male wearing dark clothing.

Hopkins was last seen in the area of McDonald’s, 1424 Forrest Ave, Dover, DE and is possibly operating a tan sedan MD Registration 8EV6048. It is unknown what he was wearing at the time. A photo of Hopkins is unavailable at this time.

The Dover Police Departments is cancelling the Gold Alert for Jayden Niblett. He has been located and is safe.

The Dover Police Department has issued a Gold Alert for Jayden Niblett, 14, of Dover. Niblett suffers from a condition that may pose a risk to his health and safety if not properly monitored and treated. Niblett is described as a white male, 5’4″, 120 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes. Niblett was last seen leaving a residence in the 300 block of Dove View Drive. At the time, he was operating a maroon Mongoose bicycle. It is unknown what he was wearing at the time.
