Teen Arrested on Firearms Charges 6-17-26

Narrative: The Dover Police Department has arrested a 17-year-old male on firearms offenses. Officers working in the Capital Green community as part of the Enhanced Visibility Patrol initiative, attempted to contact a group of subjects in the middle of the roadway at River Road and New Castle Avenue. When officers approached, the 17-year-old male fled on foot. Officers apprehended the suspect in an alley between New Castle and Kent Avenues.
Following his arrest, officers located a loaded 9mm polymer handgun on the suspect. The firearm also had an extended magazine capable of holding 40 rounds of ammunition and was equipped with a “switch” which enables the firearm to fire like an automatic weapon.
The 17-year-old male was committed to Stevenson House on a $40,501 secured bond on the following offenses:
-Carry Concealed Deadly Weapon
-Possession of Handgun/Ammo by Person Under 21 (2x)
-Possession of an Extended Magazine
-Resisting Arrest
-Possession of Destructive Weapon
