Dover Police Seek Donations for 14th Annual Holiday Heroes Shopping Event
The Dover Police Department is asking community members to help give local children a holiday shopping trip this December. The department will accept donations of cash and Target gift cards through Monday, December 7, 2026, for its 14th annual Holiday Heroes event.
Each year, Dover Police partner with Capital School District teachers and counselors to identify students whose families could use extra support during the holidays. Dover officers and support staff then take the children shopping at the Dover Target store. Each child gets to pick out gifts for family members, themselves, and shop for everyday needs such as winter coats, shoes, and hygiene items.
Donations from residents, local businesses, and longtime partner Target make these shopping trips possible. The amount raised helps determine how many children can participate.
How to donate by December 7
- In person: Drop off cash or Target gift cards at the Dover Police Department, 400 S. Queen Street, Dover, DE 19904. Please identify your donation as a Holiday Heroes contribution.
- By mail: Send Target gift cards to Dover Police Department, Attn: Holiday Heroes, 400 S. Queen Street, Dover, DE 19904. Mailed donations should arrive by December 7.
- By email: Purchase a Target eGiftCard at Target.com and have it delivered to: contact@doverpolice.org
For those who have donated by check in previous years, updated purchasing policies limit this year’s donations to cash or Target gift cards only. The Dover Police Department thanks everyone who helps make this tradition possible for local children and their families.
