Pedestrian Struck by Vehicle 10-27-14

Incident #: 50-14-28955  Date/Time:  Sunday, October 26th, 2014 at 7:05PM

Location: Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd/South DuPont Highway, Dover, DE

Narrative:
The Dover Police Department responded to a an accident involving a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle on Sunday evening in the area of Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., and South DuPont Highway in Dover.  A 37-year-old female was crossing Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd n/b and began to walk e/b on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd towards oncoming traffic for unknown reasons.  A vehicle swerved to miss the woman, but a second vehicle struck the woman.  The vehicle was a blue Chevrolet Impala.  The woman was admitted to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital where she is currently in critical condition.  Dover Police is in the process of contacting the woman’s next of kin, and will not release her name at the present time.  The operator of the vehicle waited for police arrival and is not facing any charges.
